The mist was magical that morning, with the sun making it glow and leaving ghostly silhouettes of the wonderful plane trees and chestnuts throughout the park. Short Eared Owl taken on Eide Road in Stanwood, WA around 50 min north of where I live yesterday. I went out to try the new Lumiz FZ200 camera that I bought for Dee for Christmas but guess who has been using it. It has a huge zoom range and I was able to shoot this at 600mm at 2.8.

January 27, 2015 This exceptionally large Pump Jack was not in operation at the time of this photo, it was in a equipment yard in west Texas. Pump Jacks are also sometime called (at least in Texas) "Nodding Donkeys because of their shape and their movements when they are working. I rater liked the way this one turned out in silhouette. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 "WAITING TO EXHALE" MOVIE TOWNHOUSE (1995) "Friends are the people who let you be yourself - and never let you forget it" ~ excerpt from "Waiting to Exhale" Who would have known? I did. Prior to leaving for our visit to "My Happy Place" for Christmas, I discovered that scenes from the movie were filmed in this town, so I was curious to know which ones. With a little research and assistance from a few of the locals, it was confirmed as the actual filming location/residence of John Harris, Sr. (Michael Beach), Bernadine "Bernie" Harris (Angela Bassett), and their son John Harris, Jr. (Brandon Hammond). It is located in a beautiful residential community situated in the picturesque mountain terrain of Fountain Hills. "Waiting to Exhale" is a movie adapted from the 1992 novel of the same name by Terry McMillan. The story centers on four female friends living in the Phoenix, Arizona area and their relationships with men and one another. All of them are "holding their breath" until the day they can feel comfortable in a committed relationship with a man. A few of the other main movie casts were: Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon, Mykelti Williamson, Donald Faison, Wesley Snipes, Leon Robinson, Dennis Haysbert, and Gregory Hines. Beautiful mallard...taken at a lake in Colorado!
An alternate view of the 1948 Talbot-Lago T26 Grand Sport Coupe. This car participated in many rallies over the years including the Liege - Rome - Liege. A plate, of the type shown, would have been mounted to the front of the car during the rally. This plate is mounted on a stand as the owner believes in keeping his cars original and has been unable to locate any of the plates used during the rallies.
January 26, 2015 Morning Reflection Pyramid Lake Jasper National Park, Alberta J in J 2015 - This is the first time I have seen the lake with a layer of water on it, at this time of year. It was plus 8 and overcast so we did not get any sunrise colours but these great reflections were a treat!! * For the month of January I will, once again, be posting images from my annual trips to Jasper in January.
January 26 - Lonely Horse I popped out at lunch time because I could see the clouds were starting to clear.
1/27/15 - White gumballs Thanks for your comments on my shot of the broken auto glass. What happened in the accident, which I did not see, was a car came along and tried to turn on ice and slid into a neighborhood transformer box, a telephone company box, and a light pole. It snapped off the light pole. The glass is from some damage sustained by the car. Every day I walk past this spot and just decided the glass looked neat.
