I did. Prior to leaving for our visit to "My Happy Place" for Christmas, I discovered that scenes from the movie were filmed in this town, so I was curious to know which ones. With a little research and assistance from a few of the locals, it was confirmed as the actual filming location/residence of John Harris, Sr. (Michael Beach), Bernadine "Bernie" Harris (Angela Bassett), and their son John Harris, Jr. (Brandon Hammond). It is located in a beautiful residential community situated in the picturesque mountain terrain of Fountain Hills. "Waiting to Exhale" is a movie adapted from the 1992 novel of the same name by Terry McMillan. The story centers on four female friends living in the Phoenix, Arizona area and their relationships with men and one another. All of them are "holding their breath" until the day they can feel comfortable in a committed relationship with a man. A few of the other main movie casts are: Whitney Houston, Loretta Devine, Lela Rochon, Mykelti Williamson, Donald Faison, Wesley Snipes, Leon Robinson, Dennis Haysbert, and Gregory Hines. 11-15-2012. South Carolina Sunrise. Shot in September while on vacation with friends. I'd love to be there again where the weather was perfect every day. Here in Ohio it's pretty cold. Thank you so much for all your kind words yesterday!
January 28 - Guarded I really liked the rusty old gate on this picture with nice green foliage in the background.
1/23/2015. Winter Thaw. Yesterday in the park was such a beautiful sunny day in the upper 50's; very unusual for January. The ice was thin and crackly and the sunlight created that nugget effect, and the original was a silvery winter cold, so I warmed it up with gold compliments of PS. Thank you for your views/comments!! Karen

February 4... Beach (1) portfolio. My beach-portfolio shall cover our beach through all seasons of the year. As we have hard winter now (temperature tonight was -16 cg) I have made some photo's of the beach as tourists never see it.
1/29/15 - Snowstorm in Colorado Springs, better in the largest size. I find snowstorms challenging to capture well, so I take a lot of shots when I have the opportunity. I was pleased with this one. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the weed seedheads in the light.
March 12, 2013 Here's a shot of the sign above the entry of the Bucket of Blood Saloon in Virginia City, Nevada. According to the Saloon's website: In spite of its sinister name, 'the Bucket of Blood Saloon' gives off the charm of the old time hey-days with its many hanging lamps and mirrors. Memories of a time long ago await the visitor wandering in to the bar for a cold drink in this cool oasis. "the BUCKET of BLOOD Saloon"-"the Original". This structure constructed in 1876 after the great fire of 1875 which took up to a thousand structures of the town. Most of the towns core buildings were lost or sustained damage, unfortunately the first structure that previously occupied this location, like alot of the other towns buildings of that time was completely destroyed. Though the building you are currently viewing has gone through several renovations, iterations and operations since 1876, it like many of the other Historical buildings throughout Virginia City survive as living history. The masonry walls of the Old BUCKET predate the great fire of 1875. Shadows of doorways recall a time when enclosed stairs led down to the Boston Saloon. The BUCKET of BLOOD has long served as a local landmark in the center of Virginia City. Until recently no one realized that the Boston Saloon lay under an asphalt cap to the rear of the building. The discovery of the Boston Saloon location in 1997, together with a subsequent test excavation, demonstrates that the site is rich with artifacts and has national importance. This business stayed at a single location through most of its existence, making it an anomaly at the outset. Defying the odds, remnants of the saloon survive in the archaeological record, escaping 125 years of development and bottle collecting. An asphalt parking lot currently caps the property, which the Comstock Archaeology Center excavated in September 2000. The Center is still completing analysis and cataloguing over the years. Pending funding, one or more exhibits will open at various locations in the future. For a shot of another sign advertising the saloon, click here: http://lgood.smugmug.com/Other/Signs/7752337_32zKrR#!i=2389248618&k=RPGSmM9 I just LOVE history! This shot has a psuedo HDR filter applied, and I liked the way it enhanced all the wood in the shot. Have a fantastic day my friends! Linda

Near collision. Not only did the passing teams come perilously close to each other, but the team approaching the camera came close to colliding with the wall of the arena. DP232-2013 Posted August 20; processed ditto Calhoun County Fair, Marshall, Michigan. August 14, 2013 Apologies for not commenting yesterday. It was another day when internet connection was intermittent or non-existent. Today doesn't seem to be much better. If I even get this shot uploaded it will be a major victory.
