Melk Abbey There has been a monastery here since 1089. The present building was constructed in the early 1700s. The church and library are beautiful. It is a Benendictine Abbey, with a school. For many people, it has been a pilgrimage goal for those who could not go to Rome. This side view shows the extent, but not the front (there are actually two towers above the main entrance). The other thing you don't see in this shot - because I spent some time looking for a good location - is six lanes of cars and heavy traffic rushing east and west along the A1 Autobahn. It is in a dip behind the foreground bushes. One also cannot see the Danube, which flows a bit lower down behind the Abbey.

Buteo... These soaring hawks have long, broad wings and wide, fanned tails. Buteos are built to glide effortlessly on air currents. They can soar for long stretches without flapping their wings. Their soaring ability lets them hunt for prey while circling over open areas. They will perch on trees and utility poles and wait for unsuspecting prey to move below. Buteos include the Broad-winged Hawk, Red-tailed Hawk, Red-shouldered Hawk and Rough-legged Hawk. http://www.hawkmountain.org/raptorpedia/how-to-identify-hawks/page.aspx?id=353 Sycamore Canyon Trail Whittier, CA Thanks for your views, comments and critiques, always appreciated! The Lord will work out his plans for my life— for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever. Don’t abandon me, for you made me.Psalm 138:8 NLT www.biblegateway.com July 5, 2015

We do not have to buy elaborate toys for our cats, just a box that stuff comes to the house in. They fight over who is going to get in the box and hog the space the longest
Taken In the same bright sunlight as the white peonies but this bush was sheltered from the wind and out of the sun a little bit. Red roses are so enchanting!! 13/06/15
04.07.15 - Desperation Shot! You know when you see me do an SP for a Daily that it was late at night and I was getting desperate for something to use! Various plans for photography during the day came to nought, so late in the evening I took a few self portraits using just the light from the TV to give that contrasty one sided effect that I like. I quick play with filters in color efex pro and I can almost stand looking at myself. I've done this several times before, and will probably do so again, I need to find another last minute desperation shot for emergencies :)

Saturday, July 4, 2015 "STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER" "Many a revolution started with the actions of a few. Only 56 men signed the Declaration of Independence. A few hanging together can lead a nation to change." ~ Wynton Marsalis Independence Day honors the birthday of the United States of America and the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Thomas Jefferson, is the author of the Declaration of Independence. He led a committee that crafted the declaration between June 11-28, 1776. Jefferson and other discontented representatives from the thirteen colonies, voted and approved it on July 4, 1776. The document declared freedom for the 13 colonies from British rule. It currently resides in the Exhibition Hall of the National Archive in Washington, D.C. Did you know that The Declaration of Independence was not signed by all representatives until August, 1776. To make it official, John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress signed it. Now, can anyone guess where the saying "put your John Hancock on it" came from? God, bless America. America, bless God. Have a safe, patriotic, and spectacular day! ***#7 photo of the day*** (photo taken at a business in our city; presentation created on 5/29/2015) My Homepage: www.GodsChild.SmugMug.com
