Day 358 - After Christmas Day Fri. Dec. 26, 2014 Pheeww.... I need a rest!
DEC 26 2014 Hope your Christmas was sweet with love one's and friends . There all gone and looking at the Tiki Torch with a little of the moon at the bottom.
Another shot for the "Where Is Tessie?" series. In Hell's Canyon, ID. Her first time in that state.
25.12.14 - All Quiet on the Western Bypass! This is usually just about the busiest road in Lincolnshire, but yesterday it was like a country lane, hardly a soul travelling anywhere. We were at a friend's house at the opposite end of Lincoln, and she was cooking so I took the chance to go for a long run around areas I've not been to for a while. Later I walked to this bridge hoping for a nice sunset, but nothing materialised, and there wasn't even enough traffic for good light trails. But I thought this was still a good reflection of Christmas Day, most people were probably sprawled in front of the TV having eaten far too much :) Merry Christmas yet again, and thank-you for the wonderful comments and best wishes. Yesterday marked the start of my 8th year with Smugmug, and soon I'll be starting my 8th year on the Dailies :)
Friday, December 26, 2014 " 'TWAS THE DAY AFTER CHRISTMAS" "There are four basic food groups: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, and chocolate truffles." ~ Unknown Author One of over 300 Santa Claus's in a private collection And the story goes like this........... 'Twas the day after Christmas and all through the house, Not a creature is stirring, not even a mouse. Santa is relaxing in his La-Z-Boy Recliner, Glad there are no post Christmas day complainers or whiners. He is indulging in William Curley's scrumptiously delicious, Mouthwatering, yummylicious "House Milk Chocolate Truffles" (my favorite) In hopes that Mrs. Claus is in the kitchen fixing supper! ~ by God's Child (Me) To order, William Curley's official website is here: http://williamcurley.co.uk/index.html Thanks for your Christmas well-wishes yesterday; I hope everyone had a blessed day with family and friends! October 10, 2013 Red Mountain - as seen along one of the trails we were riding in Colorado. According to Wikipedia: Red Mountain is a set of three peaks in the San Juan Mountains of western Colorado in the United States, about 5 miles south of Ouray. The mountains get their name from the reddish iron ore rocks that cover the surface. Several other peaks in the San Juan Mountains likewise have prominent reddish coloration from iron ore and are also called "Red Mountain". Nearby Red Mountain Pass is named after Red Mountain, and the ghost town mining camp of Red Mountain Town is located at the foot of the Red Mountains. Have a "red-letter day today my friends." 12/25/14 - Merry Christmas to all! Hope everyone has a wonderful day! Thanks for all your comments and Christmas wishes on our Annual Christmas Card! I appreciate all the support throughout the year and the many friends I've made here on Smugmug! Thanks for posting thousands of wonderful images that have enriched my life over the past year.
There is a late Victorian train station in the small town of Durand, Michigan, which now serves a dual role as a railroading museum and an unattended Amtrak station. Each Christmas the community supplies lavish decorations in the form of trees, each decked out by a different organization, and overall room decor. This year's room theme was candy and snowflakes. I've tried to provide a little sense of the overall space with this montage. DP354-2014 Posted Saturday, December 20; created ditto from photos taken December 13 The top two images in the montage show decorations along the top of the former ticket booth; the lower two show decorations at the tops of the main columns in the room and across the ceiling. You get a glimpse of some of the trees in the shot in the lower right. All told, throughout this room and the rest of the building, there were probably a couple of dozen trees. Full frames views of these shots can be seen starting here: http://smu.gs/13nziqs Title: Snowflakes and Peppermint Candy at Durand
12/27/14 - My granddaughter, Quinn, as Arabian Coffee in the Nutcracker, Dec. 2014; she's 16. The situation was difficult, as the light was generally quite low, she was moving, my vantage point was far on the left side, and I was handholding the camera and not using the flash. I was pretty pleased with most of the images, given the difficult shooting conditions. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the door handle. Much appreciated!
12/24/14 - Merry Christmas, everyone! May the joy of the holidays stay with us all year long! Thanks for your comments on my shot of the bowling shoes!
Twice a year, in early winter, and again in early spring, I see significant numbers of trumpeter swans on this stretch of the river. I enticed several pairs to come closer by feeding shelled corn. Three pairs came to feed, while others remained far out in the river, or near the far shore. DP348-2014 Posted December 14; processed ditto See full resolution versions of these two shots, along with several other images for the swans taken on the same occasion, in my swans gallery, here: http://arctangent.smugmug.com/Birds/Birds-Waterfowl1-Swans/5655185_xzcB2w Gallup Park, Ann Arbor December 11, 2014 Title: They're Back! Trumpeter Swans on the Huron River Note added: The right hand picture is not a crop. It's the full frame as it came from the camera. With the swans in constant motion, coming closer and moving farther away, I couldn't always re-zoom and re-focus both for my shots. The zoom on the camera I was using (a point and shoot) is not exactly fine touch, so in camera composition on the fly with a moving subject is an adventure.
Merry Christmas Eve! This wreath hangs on our front porch... Thank you for your views and comments, very much appreciated! Critiques welcome... 24 December 2014
