Monday, October 20, 2014 "THE GREAT OUTDOORS" "In every walk with nature, one receives far more than he seeks." ~ John Muir This was photographed during an impromptu visit while I was in the city. My first planned visit to this park was on September 6, 2008. Can you spot the young lad? View my complete "Gone With the Wind" gallery of photos from each visit here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/Television/Old-Mill "Hail State!" Mississippi State University still ranks #1 in this week's (week 9, released 10/19/2014) Associated Press Top 25 College Football Poll and the Amway Coaches Poll (AP - 1,480 points; ACP - 1,520 points). It's the first time in school history MSU ranked No. 1 in either poll for two consecutive weeks. MSU has an overall record of 6-0 and an SEC Conference record of 3-0. Also, in both polls this week, Florida State University remains #2 (AP - 1,433 points; ACP - 1,493 points ) and Ole Miss remains #3 (AP - 1,404 points; ACP - 1,447 points). Proof is here: http://collegefootball.ap.org/poll and here: http://sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/football/polls/coaches-poll/ Have a happy Monday and a great start to the work week! T.R. October 19, 2014 For Indigo's color challenge I'm sharing another photo from Upper Antelope Canyon. While it is not a single color, it is a family of colors and they are all found in this amazing canyon. It's hard to describe how lovely the canyon is, and how awe-inspiring it is when you are there. We will certainly go back again someday, hopefully in the early spring when the light is said to be even better. "Nature always wears the colors of the spirit." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson Have a colorful day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
October 20, 2014 Another pumpkin house from The Dallas Arboretum. We are starting to see a few fall colors in our area. Hopefully the next few weeks we will start to see things change. Have an amazing week! Jeanne
I found this old barber pole/light recently and couldn't;t resist.
Colorful bouquet... These fresh cut flowers decorated our table where we dined out recently... Thank you for your views and comments! Critiques welcome... Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring. Proverbs 27:1 NLT www.biblegateway.com 19 October 2014
Here in West Texas in late September for two weels recieved a total of 6 inch of rain. Badly needed after almost 4 years of drought. Still far behind, but better than nothing at all. The only thing that can survive the heat is Catus, Yucca plants and Mesquite bushes. Now you see Wild flowers blooming everywhere, it's just like a garden. I see this a lot in Colorado where I live, but here where I am taking care of my Dad, is strange to see this much wild flowers.
Looking for Letters and this image was edged out by another... Shaped Like a "r" this is an abstract of a Piece of Art         Link to Photo Without Frame       Thank You for Making this Daily Photo Tied for the #4 Pick on 09-16-2014
Oct.20. Old International Harvester on display with peppers for sale.
One Tree House: I was out at a farm in Ipswich, MA with the family (we were buying pumpkins) when this scene caught my eye. I'm not quite sure why this appeals to me. There's really nothing special about it....Happy Monday! 10/20/2014
October 17, 2014 So sorry I didn't get to comment much yesterday, but will try to do so today. Thanks to everyone for your comments on my Antelope Canyon shot. This is a 4-shot HDR from the road near Lake Powell, close to Page, Arizona. We stopped on the side of the highway and I set up my tripod because I loved the way the sun was hitting the distance sandstone hills, and the rain clouds beyond them. You can't see the lake from this vantage point, but I assure you it's a beauty. Tomorrow, I'll post another photo that does show a portion of this enormous lake. The day this photo was taken was the day that we had originally planned to take the Antelope Canyon tour; however, it had been raining off and on all day and they closed the canyon due to concerns (valid) about the potential for flash floods in the slot canyons. So we went exploring, and although wet at times, it was a wonderful day to travel around and see the surrounding beauty of the countryside. "Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine." ~ Anthony J. D'Angelo Take your own sunshine with you today friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
