Green Lynx Spider. Morningside Nature Center, Gainesville, Florida. 2014.
After a much (hours) delayed appearance, this version is appearing in the DP gallery, so I'll move the color version back to the 'Take Your Pick' gallery. This is a resaved version from photoshop. If you commented on the earlier (now deleted) upload, please know that I did see your comments and appreciate them. Compared with yesterday's abstract, the processing on this one was a piece of cake: BW conversion followed by application of Poster Edges filter. You can see the original uncropped shot here http://smu.gs/1mityrf , and a cropped version in color, using different filters here http://smu.gs/1qifMzz . It was a bit of a toss up for me whether to post the BW or the filtered color version. DP262-2014 Posted September 19; processed September 18 from an image taken September 9 in Gallup Park. Title: Abstract - Thistle Down in Monochrome IN7955 (thirteenth in the current series) Many thanks for the response to my geometric mini-planet post yesterday. Creating these images is very much like opening a box of chocolates... They're easy enough to do that I don't feel bad about discarding the ones that don't work.
September 21, 2014: A wee migrating northern parula decided to come out into the open and was hanging with the goldfinches for a short while.
Eastern Fence Lizard. Morningside Nature Center. Gainesville, Florida. 2014. These lizards have superb bark-like camouflage that help them blend in with trees, but if you see a male from the side you get a glimpse of his stunning blue sides.

Juvenile Great blue heron in the fall. This guy was fishing under a tree where the leaves were starting to turn and fall in the water. I had to wait patiently until he/she moved out a bit from under the tree so his/her head was in view. Green Darner Dragonfly - taken near Olympia, Wa.
I waited for 6 months for the sun to go down in the midle of the road. Fortunately it did not rain that day. I brought a boy with me to wave good night to the sun. Suddenly I saw the birds comming from the left, and got them in "the decive moment".

February 10... Beach #4. Almost every day I take Blif for a walk along the beach. Especially in autumn and winter the sky puts up magnificent shows. The other day this sky came up covering most colors even a bit of green at the left. The show went on for app. 10 minutes, and then it was all over.
