July 2, 2015 This is one of hundreds, perhaps thousands of water features at the Atlantis Resort in Nassau, Bahama's. I loved the shell motif and the fact that this was high on one of the columns at the resort's entrance. "I love the sounds and the power of pounding water, whether it is the waves or a waterfall." ~ Mike May Thank you for your comments and critiques! Have an artful day today my friends! The tomb of Cyrus the Great Cyrus the great (576-530 BC) was the founder of the Achaemenid Empire, the largest empire the world had yet seen to that time. His famous proclamation, inscribed onto Cyrus Cylinder, is said to be the oldest known declaration of human rights. The tomb of Cyrus the Great, built c530 BC, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the world's first example of a base isolated structure. The tomb has two foundations. During an earthquake, when the earth moves, the base foundation moves, and the upper part glides freely on its base. Amazingly this was built around 530 BC to withstand a Richter scale 7 earthquake. The time of day I got to the tomb, after a long day of travel, the sun was in just the wrong position to show the front of the tomb with the door. So I decided to make this work for me, rather than against me. The use of a sun star and lens flare was a deliberate attempt on my part to draw attention to the door of the structure and give a more unusual interpretation to this famous, much photographed, monument. To generate this opticaI effect in camera (no filters or Photoshop) I used a wide angle lens at its highest aperture and positioned the sun just above the top of the dome and shot into the sun. Day 182: Woodland Sunflowers - July 2. Blue skies and yellow flowers always make for a happy combination and that was true yesterday with these perennial wildflowers reaching toward the sky in the sunlight.

Thursday, July 2, 2015 "B BALL" "My responsibility is getting all my players playing for the name on the front of the jersey, not the one on the back." ~ Author Unknown Throwback Thursday..... "B Ball(s)" - the name given to basketballs by our two and a half year old grand-prince, and thus, the caption. Photographed with my Nikon 70-300 mm zoom lens after photographing a sunset and the Southern Magnolia leaves (yesterday's photo). I hadn't used the lens in a long time. It's a heavy beast, but it's versatile and gets the job done. Tomorrow is week 8 (grand finale) of Judy's (aka fotoeffects) "Lexicon Challenge." I am ready; are you? Have a "slam dunk, 3-point" kind of day! (photo taken 4/1/2015) My Homepage: www.GodsChild.SmugMug.com

Finally! The end of my story on our 'Lot at the Lake Re-do'. Above.... the scene as we were getting ready to leave at the end of the second day of the cleanup. Below ... the scene as we drove away on Monday (June 29). Still lots to do, but we now have a most heavenly place to spend our summmer - relaxing and making plans for our next big project. Thanks so much for sticking with me. Sharing this event took a lot longer than I thought it would - I took SO many photos of it all!! There's also over a month of shots of all the other projects that went on to shape that second picture. Many thanks for all your comments & thoughts over this series.... :) 07.02.15
