Storks at sunrise Pair of Jabiru storks on their nest at sunrise. Every evening the storks went back to their large messy nest on the Fazenda St Tereza and very morning just after sunrise they flew off to fish. I had to get up early to catch them still on the nest. Scilla is blooming everywhere around here. It naturalizes so easily that vast patches, drifts, hillsides, swales of it abound. In combination with the ever-present brilliant yellows of forsythia and daffodils, they shout 'Spring is here!' DP109-2015 Posted Sunday, April 19. Taken April 17, Hidden Lake Gardens, Michigan Title: A Sea of Scilla I appreciate all the kind comments on yesterday's shot of bloodroot blooms.
April 19, 2015 Several weeks ago we drove two hours from home to catch a ride on the Texas State Railroad Steam train. It starts in Palestine, TX and you ride through the wonderful east Texas forests in the old rail cars. After about a 2 hour ride, you are in Rusk, Texas. There's a 1.5 hour break for the riders to have lunch. We always pack a picnic lunch to enjoy with the kids. It's a fun, fun time. Then we board the train again for the return 2 hour trip. We love this ride. Of course, I do have a whole family of train nuts, and I guess you can say they've converted me too. This is a photo of oldest grandson Case (in the rear) and his younger brother Benjamin as they walked the rails while we were waiting to board the steam train. I applied a Topaz oil painting filter. "As a child I found railroad stations exciting, mysterious, and even beautiful, as indeed they often were." ~ Paul Johnson Thank you for your comments and critiques. At the Mysore Palace in Mysore, India. I added some texture in the processing.
4/19/15 - Recent processed shot of part of the infrastructure of the locks on Lake Washington, Seattle. Take a look in the largest size. I'll be absent for about a week without 'net access. I'll look forward to catching up on all your shots when I get back from my trip. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the mossy RV!

Soaking up the rays.... I love the way flowers open themselves to welcome the sun, I wanted to somehow include this in another attempt at painting photos - the warmth of the sun on the little crocus against the darkness of the earth beneath it.... 04.19.15

17.04.15 - The Path Less Travelled I'm posting this a day late because our internet was down for over 24 hours until this morning. I have a reputation for taking the "scenic route" wherever I go, even if it is a little bit longer I much prefer taking field paths to walking along busy roads. This is a 2 shot photomerge panorama of my walk back from a local supermarket. The field on the left will be bright yellow with oildseed rape flowers in a couple of weeks. Once I've worked through emails and everything else I'll post another Daily to catch up properly
