At Barton Dam you can stand on the walkway across the dam and look down and see the water spurting from floodgates, and catch the rim of the arc as gravity pulls the water back down to the river at the foot of the dam. Depending on the light, the water can look dark or light, but it always looks turbulent and excited and even joyful. I decided to do a BW conversion of such a shot, one which happened to look mostly dark, and then 'invert' it, or produce a digital negative. I've put two 'negatives' and one 'positive' together in a montage for today's abstract. DP257-2014 Posted September 14; created ditto for a shot taken September 8 The uncropped, full color version of this shot can be seen here ( http://smu.gs/1tQrsNO ), along with a negative or color inverted version. To produce the images for the frames in the montage, I did a BW conversion of the full color shot, and then inverted that, rather than do two separate BW conversions. Seen at Barton Dam, Barton Park on the Huron River, Ann Arbor. Title: Abstract - White On Black On White IN7812
9/14/2014 ~ Burgers & Fries In honor of Indigo's challenge to post something orange today, here is a juicy burger with a stack of orange sweet potato fries. Delicious! Thank you for the kind comments on yesterday's dried flower shot!
September 14, 2014 As suggested by Tina (Indigo) I'm posting a mostly blue photo today - late added post: I didn't catch that today was supposed to be orange, I'll try to pay more attention this week since I will be at home and not working out of town. Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body. This was taken in the high deserts of Utah. If I recall correctly, we were at about 9,000 feet. The white that you see in the middle ground isn't snow, it's just the color of the rock in the distance and also a bit of the effect of some harsh sunlight. I'll be sharing a lot more of our vacation photos over the coming weeks. I've hardly had time to even go through half of them, but it is a labor of love as each of you know. "Great things are done when men and mountains meet." ~ William Blake Have a beautiful day today my friends. Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
09.14.14 Golf Balls are WHITE. In the backyard there is a green dog food bowl sitting on the patio. The white golf bowls made a good subject. Although, I could have left this as a color image, I converted this to a black & white to cut out any other colors. Don't forget that on Sept 28th I have challenged all of you to post BLUE for prostate cancer awareness month. I have a few images that will work for next weeks color challenge, but I am hoping to shoot something new. I never know what treasures the camera and I will find :-) Thanks.
09-14-2014 "Downtown Atlanta" This is a scene in a park in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. The park had a lot of activity while we were there. Several football games were being played at the Georgia Dome that weekend and several outdoor concerts were taking place. Thank you so much for your comments on my photos. When I get home today from our week of travels, I have many photos to process. After viewing other photos today, I realized I forgot or missed the challenge from Indigo. Some posted orange today and some one color. I will try to get caught up and join in. It's been more difficult with limited internet and travel. Donna
