January 17 In memory of "Vaks" who passed quietly away yesterday. He was for us a good, loyal friend for 12 years, but as a Fox Terrier also setting his own priorities. He was our ship dog for 6 years when we were yachting in the summertime. When we moved to Fanoe his favorite occupation was hunting rabbits. Until two year ago he caught at least one a day, and was so proud, when he returned home with his catch. This picture was taken in 2002 with my analog Leica M6 camera and later digitalized. Thank you for your comforting comments yesterday .
July 1, 2015 July already? My goodness, it seems this year is just flying by. However, I'm glad that it's July, because now our vacation to Alaska is just 11 days away! Yay. That's the good news. The bad news is I found out last week that the day after we get home from our two week vacation, I have to climb on another plane and fly to Europe for a week of business meetings. Since I'll be cooped up inside all day every day, it's doubtful that I'll get a lot of photos while in Spain, but I will try. This scene is in the back part (what he calls the "dirty part") of Bill's home workshop. This scene caught my eye the day I saw it because of the colors in the fork lift and the ladder were pretty and those colors were surrounded by the drab gray-ness of the walls, ceilings and floors. I hope you enjoy this shot of where Bill spends his days. "It is the working man who is the happy man. It is the idle man who is the miserable man." ~ Benjamin Franklin And, off to work I go! :-) Have a great and productive day today my friends. Thank you for your comments and critiques. Today the Black-Crowned Night Heron were by the rocks on the west side of the lake, make great angles to shoot them, also the lake was very calm today and may I add very hot . . .
07.01.15 When Piggy-Banks Fly I know that the phrase "when pigs fly" is used to mean something won't happen. Never. What is the meaning when a piggy bank flies? And is this a good thing or bad thing.
Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. God is and has been exceptionally kind to all of us; have a blessed and safe Sunday, everyone. 07-02-2015 "Canna" This orange and yellow canna blooms in a neighbor's yard. Thank you for your comments on my photos and thanks for taking a look at the magazine article. Donna
July 1 2015 Celebrating My birthday is tomorrow but we had the family celebration on Sunday. We stopped for this picture after dinner. My ten year old granddaughter Lindsey took this with my heavy DSLR. I think she's got it.

2-1: Saturday evening we had quite a nice sunset, so I took a walk along the Poudre trail near Prospect street hoping to find some good views. I found this waterfall like thing.
A golden day
September 11, 2009 John.. I took your advice last night.... half the bottle. ;) Yesterday was just one more chapter in a month and a half of nearly constant stress. It started with a very unpleasant surprise having to do with Ian's job (he still has it - nothing has changed with his position -just unpleasant financial news). Then some extended family issues that is very emotional and highly charged and yesterday - the air conditioner decided to start screetching like someone was taking a power tool to it. $650.00+ later we have a new fan motor. I really wanted to drink the entire bottle but couldn't because I have to be out and on the road by 7:15am. So John (very smart man that he is) suggested I just have half the bottle - which I did. Emily is home from school today - not feeling well at all. I will probably have her in to the doctor later this afternoon if I can get an appt. Why do kids (at least mine) always seem to get sick on Fridays and then there is the mad dash to the dr before the weekend hits.
9.2.09 - Snow and Rain We woke up to fresh snow again this morning, and although it was cold it was quite a pleasant day. That is, until I decided to go out and get a Daily. I had hoped to take some night snow shots around the Cathedral, but it was raining heavily! The last time I took some photos here I got a ghostly biker zooming through the shot, tonight it was a bedraggled walker. Apart from a crop to get rid of boring foreground this is straight out of camera. Despite me standing over it with an umbrella some rain managed to get on the lens, but I think it adds to the watery scene (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). For those that like to keep an eye on our Monday Challenges mine is here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/7093288_hSxt4#470456288_tRiRP
"The River Flows" On my way home from an appt. today I stopped at one of my favorite fishing spots on the Rockaway River in my town to grab this capture. Too bad I didn't have a set of waders in my car to get the little water fall that is located just below this scene but I have to be UNDER the bridge I was on in order to get it in the frame LOL. So you'll have to settle for this one. I love the little water flow control house that is dilapidated here, it adds a nice rigid feel to the scene. I've watched the roof continue to collapse over the years and soon it will just fall in completely. This is one of the best trout spots around here and they stock the river just upstream weekly during trout season from the farm with tags on them so you know if you caught a wild or farm bread fish. The mountain you see in the background is part of the Picatinny Arsenal where they develop & test new weapons for the military. Anyway, it was an overcast day here as you can see and it really brought some nice contrast into the picture that I liked. I had to make slight levels adjustments to bring the clouds out a bit more and then some selective dodging & burning to the shadow areas but not much more to this one. Oh and a slight filter applied to bring the colors up a bit since it was so dark here. 10 min. of work and it was finished. So I hope you enjoy this next addition to my fall colors month - I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and get out there to enjoy the crisp clean fall air ;) ALTERNATE VERSION: You can see a second version in SEPIA of this image in my EXTRAS Gallery BY CLICKING HERE Best Regards, ~Bill~
Finally! The end of my story on our 'Lot at the Lake Re-do'.

Above.... the scene as we were getting ready to leave at the end of the second day of the cleanup.
Below ... the scene as we drove away on Monday (June 29).

Still lots to do, but we now have a most heavenly place to spend our summmer - relaxing and making plans for our next big project.

Thanks so much for sticking with me. Sharing this event took a lot longer than I thought it would - I took SO many photos of it all!! There's also over a month of shots of all the other projects that went on to shape that second picture.

Many thanks for all your comments & thoughts over this series.... :)
