Pondering Significance22 July 2014 -- 203/365Lincoln, Rhode IslandYears ago, I worked with someone that had a few signature phrases. For instance, at lunch he would go downcity to "cruise the earth." While daydreaming, he would say he was "pondering significance." At Christmas, he gave his boss a set of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle figurines, and he once had an interesting cubical war with another coworker involving little green army men and very large rubber spiders. I should mention that programmers tend to have very warped senses of humor. In any case, while driving through Lincoln Woods today, I spotted this guy just relaxing along the dam and staring off into nothing. It immediately brought "pondering significance" to mind, and it just begged for a photo. You see the results.Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, boost black, details, and protect highlights. A levels adjustment was added in PSE.
February 10... Beach #4. Almost every day I take Blif for a walk along the beach. Especially in autumn and winter the sky puts up magnificent shows. The other day this sky came up covering most colors even a bit of green at the left. The show went on for app. 10 minutes, and then it was all over.
I waited for 6 months for the sun to go down in the midle of the road. Fortunately it did not rain that day. I brought a boy with me to wave good night to the sun. Suddenly I saw the birds comming from the left, and got them in "the decive moment".
January 7, 2012 This shot was taken just after sundown somewhere along the Mississippi coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We had stopped to walk on the beautiful white-sand beaches and take some photos. Just as we left, we stopped at a nearby marina to put gas in the car and I couldn't resist taking this photo. Frame added in Picnik. I hope you enjoy this tranquil setting captured in this photo - it's going to be one of my favorites from our recent vacation. Check it out in X3 for all the color, reflections and details. Thanks for your comments!!! Have a fabulous weekend!!! Linda
Yesterday I woke up at sunrise. The sun was barely over the horizon at southeast. As I looked out of my bedroom window I saw this landscape to the northwest with the full moon as a golden coin. I at once grabbed my camera, opened the window even as the temperature was minus 10° centigrade and made some shots. Here is one of them. 10 minutes later the sun was well over the horizon, the sky was lit and the moon hardly to be seen.

Mustard Hill is located in a lovely field outside Ashton, Idaho. What a beautiful sight!
March 11... Beach #9. This is the last Beach-picture for now. I still need to include some summer-pictures in the series, so I have to wait 3 month to finish this job . If you look at the horizon line you will see a number of windmills. We have a lot of offshore windmill parks around our country and they produce 20 % of our total power consumption and this percentage is increasing from year to year

08OCT2012 Milling Around Dell's Mill aka Clark's Mill with some Fall foliage all lit up in the morning sun......Great place, scenic area with lots of barns to shoot as well. Image won First Place in the "Travel Category" n4c.us in October 2012, submitted through the Omaha Camera Club. Comments are welcome, lots of Wisconsin images to upload....have a great day! Dan, sorry we didn't know you lived there....great area.
Rocks in the Stream easily seen in the clear run-off from this tributary to the Virgin River in Zion national park.
Mustard Flowers blooming yellow and purely lovely.
Douglas Squirrel - very loud alarm call got my attention. Taken near Olympia, Wa. Update: Thank you for nice comments. I'm not sure if this is a young squirrel but every Douglas squirrel i've seen is small and cute. They are much smaller than the gray squirrels and cuter as far as i'm concerned though gray squirrels may take exception to that. Ive taken pictures of this one since, or at least another one in the same area.By the way they sound similar to a bird and they are more vocal than other squirrels or chipmunks ive been around.
