An early October snowstorm in Colorado Springs; best viewed in the larger sizes. I think it is always challenging to try to capture the actual snow falling so that it looks natural. In the largest sizes, you can really see the snow falling, so I was pleased with this. I sure appreciated your comments on my shot of the snow at the hospital parking lot. This community is always so encouraging. Hope you had a good weekend!
Single color . If you look at the horizon line you will see a number of windmills. We have a lot of offshore windmill parks around our country and they produce 40 % of our total power consumption and this percentage is increasing from year to year
Post 1058 23/365 1/23/2014 - Trinidad, Cuba …back to my editing from the 2013 trip. This is a lovely square in the town of Trinidad. The young woman in the fancy dress is having her portrait taken for her Quinciera…a traditional celebration in Latin American countries when a young woman turns 15 years of age. It was fun watching the photographer! The young 15 year old was wearing a borrowed dress for her pictures. At one point when they were finished she just stepped out of the dress exposing her shorts and top that she had been wearing under the fancy dress. One of the things that I would like to point out about the Cuban streets is that they are so neat and tidy! The country is extemely poor, they don't have much in the way of cleaning supplies or fresh paint or plaster due to the US embargo, but they have what I would call a dignified poverty. The people are very conscientious to maintain what they have as best they can. This is a city center area..and though not many tourists there, this is an area where tourists do wander and browse…only about 2 blocks down the road from this square the streets are unpaved dirt and the homes are extremely simple and bare with some horse drawn wagons as transport.

Hummingbird - I am a bit ambivalent about this shot because the hummer's iridescence is just SOOO high voltage, but I decided that maybe it was worth featuring as a daily. This is best viewed in the largest sizes. Quite a lot of you are wondering about the shutter speed. It is 1/1600 sec. I've found I can usually freeze hummers at about 1/1200 sec. or faster. I bumped the speed up on this day because it was exceptionally bright and sunny! Thanks to all of you who commented on my shot of the white cactus flower. Much of the snow melted today, although it kept on snowing until about 11 a.m. The wedding shoot went well, I think, although I've not yet looked closely at the images. They'll keep me busy processing for several weeks. Hope every has a chance to get outside and enjoy nicer weather today!
