9 Jun 2009 A train from the past :-) Spotted this near Denver International Airport, and the sun forced me to pull over my car to get a shot of this.
August 30, 2009 - "1941 Ford Super Deluxe" This was shot at the Palm Springs Air Museum. The SOOC had so many distracting reflections that I could not work around. So, I thought I would push this beautiful stock '41 Ford to this extreme. I do not see to many candy apple red cars around anymore :) I just competed a gallery with the SOOC and several other cars from the museum. http://dakotacowboy.smugmug.com/Cars/Palm-Springs-Air-Museum-Cars/9405377_H6KiD/1/630121733_CxF5M Airplanes from the museum are at another gallery http://dakotacowboy.smugmug.com/Military/Palm-Springs-Air-Museum-2009/8329002_YUVa2/1/578640610_Q5Nsr
Sunrise in Big Bend National Park in Texas; I took this shot on our recent trip to Big Bend. There were a number of lovely sunrises while we were there, but I think this one is my favorite. Another week has flown by and Easter is almost upon us. Hope you are able to do something enjoyable this weekend. I'm off to bed as soon as I post this. Thanks, everyone, who commented on my shot of the green heron with its damselfly. It is really gratifying to get such nice comments from such a terrific bunch of photographers. I am constantly amazed by the talent here on smugmug.
1.8.08 - Absent Friends I seem to having lots of anniversaries at the moment. Yesterday I completed my first 6 months in the Dailies, and tomorrow I will have been in my new flat for a year. Today would have been my 27th wedding anniversary, but for the fact that my first wife Gill died of a brain haemorrhage on July 20th 1986. This photo was taken in January 1985, at the end of a wonderful day walking in the Derbyshire Hills. The original was a colour transparency, and is in another gallery, but this has been cropped and tidied up a bit for the Dailies. Gill and I shared a love of wild places, especially mountains, but as a cash strapped young couple we never got beyond the UK. This was good in that it allowed our daft black lab "Kelly" to go everywhere with us, we were quite a team. We had great plans, but they were all for a future that never happened for us. After Gill died my attitude to life changed considerably, never put off 'til tomorrow what you can do today, you never know what might happen. Much has happened in the intervening years, some bad, but most good. One of the best experiences of recent years has been joining the Dailies and making many great new friends, albeit at the other end of fibre optic cables halfway round the world. You guys have taught me so much, about myself as well as about photography, and long may it continue :)
A view of my yard after a winter snowstorm - this is one of a small file of photos that I discovered this week on one of my external drives that had never been processed. I processed them and added them to my "Snowy Days" gallery this week. We actually have not had this much snow at one time this year. THIS SHOT REALLY NEEDS TO BE VIEWED IN THE LARGEST SIZES. Thanks to those of you who commented on my shot of the froggie in the window. And another weekend is here and I hope you are able to enjoy yours. Cheers!
1-03: Thursday I let my daughter drive up to Horsetooth and on some of the roads up there (she's just started learning to drive). It just so happened that the sky was pretty awesome looking so I had her stop and I took some pictures. As you can see our snow is almost completely gone now :(
3.10.09 - Ghost in the Machine Ghostly goings on at Gainsborough Old Hall. I've had this idea ever since I found out that this was called the "ghost corridor", so while I was trapped inside the PC I thought I'd have a go at creating this. It is the first time I've experimented with layers in this way, maybe I should have made Lydia even more transparent, but hey I'm sure I'll try this again. Those of you that haven't already seen my gallery of the Hall might want to check this out; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/History/GAINSBOROUGH-OLD-HALL/9662694_gb4gb#652216254_Fyruu Thanks for the wonderful response to my silly SP yesterday, it was a lot of fun making that :)
7470: I'm back - sort of: My computer issues rage on, I can't wait until I get my new machine up and running!! This piece of junk seems to be running again (Let's see how long that lasts lol) Anyway - This is the steam locomotive 7470 from the North Conway Scenic Railroad in North Conway, NH. I have waited 3 years for this shot! I have many more shot to show you guys that I couldn't post because of this damn machine!! 10/2/2012

I captured this moonset photo the morning the moon was it's closest to the earth in the past 18 years, March 19 2010. The sun still had not risen, so, the light you see in the clouds and reflected on the ocean was from the incredibly bright full moon as it was setting over the Pacific Ocean. We've had virtually non-stop rain over the past week, and this morning was no different - so I was lucky the moon peeked out of the clouds just a bit to add some mystical moonlight to the ocean and clouds.
Kite
Hootie! This poor little owl was knocked out of its nest by a bunch of crows! I will be taking it to a man tomorrow, that specializes in Birds of Prey.
