Day 059: River Water and Ice - Feb 28. A close up view of the water and ice chunks flowing down the Hudson River with blue skies reflected on the ice and water. To get a sense of scale of the ice, view in large size to see the gulls sitting on the ice in the lower third of the image.

"Peach Blossom"...02/28/2015...
This morning I participated in the red dress project with some members of our photo club to bring awareness to the 1181 aboriginal women that are missing in Canada. We hung the dresses on trees lining a street in Edmonton and on a trail in a ravine. We will continue to do this until we have 1181 images of red dresses in different locations. There is an article in the Globe and Mail today about this issue.

Thursday, February 26, 2015 "ALL SNOW AND NO PLAY" "The first fall of snow is not only an event, it is a magical event. You go to bed in one kind of a world and wake up in another quite different, and if this is not enchantment, then where is it to be found?" ~ J. B. Priestley A drive-by - photographed from the passenger side of the vehicle........ NOTE: SmugMug is still having "issues" with photos appearing in the Daily Photos Community. This one, along with several other photos from SmugMuggers, are not appearing in the community today. The photos that are appearing are mostly the ones that were posted yesterday, including mine. Yesterday, from 12:15 PM to approximately 5:00 PM, our city got 4-5 inches of snow.......nonstop. Snow is a big deal for us, especially considering that during the winter months, we don't always get snow. We rode around yesterday evening so that we could see the snow scenes and I could take advantage of the photo ops. Since I am not accustomed to photographing snow, I utilized the beach/snow scene on my camera; however, I was really inspired by the beautiful wintery/snow photos that have been previously posted by fellow SmugMuggers Janet McQueen, Nelli, and Trusalda (aka TruImages). The complete "Snow What Fun" 2015 gallery is here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/Weather/Ice-and-Snow-2015/ Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! (photo taken 2/25/2015)
Friday, February 27, 2015 "SNOW DAY" "There's one good thing about snow, it makes your lawn look as nice as your neighbor's." ~ Clyde Moore Another snow photo from the 4-5 inches we got on Wednesday - this time, one of my favorite homes on a corner lot in the same neighborhood subdivision as yesterday's photo..... I sure hope all of our photos appear in the Daily Photos Community today. However, when I inquired yesterday about a select few photos appearing in the DPC, I received the following e-mail from one of the SmugMug Heroes: "We realize Communities are important to lots of folks. While we weren't able to ship Communities with the launch of new SmugMug, our engineers are investigating ways to reintroduce or reinvent them. This is why you're not seeing images show up in the Daily Photos Community. It's part of the Old SmugMug structure. New SmugMug images will show at www.smugmug.com/popular." 8:10 AM Update: This morning when I inquired via the Chat, I received this response: "Thanks for your kind words. There's nothing to worry about. We're currently seeing an issue with processing being backlogged. It's already something reported on our status page: http://status.smugmug.com. While the status there mentions smart galleries in specific, this also affects popular photos and keywords. There is currently no ETA on when the issue is resolved, but you can subscribe to the status page to get updates on changes. I mean when the issue will be resolved." February 25, 2015 This is the Blixt & Co booth at the SCI (Safari Club International) show. It was quite lovely and at the moment I took this shot the people visiting it were off to the right hand side, so I was able to get an uncluttered photo. Blixt & Co. offers premier, traditional, driven pheasant and partridge shooting in the United States of America, and it’s their goal to bring a long-held English tradition, to the majestic American West. Located in Idaho, the hunts are in the English tradition and participants are expected to dress in the formal hunting attire mostly seen in Spain and England. "I strongly believe that the Second Amendment creates an individual right to possess and use guns for purposes of both hunting and self-defense." ~ Cass Sunstein Thank you for your comments, critiques and opinions, they are always appreciated. As I've said before, neither Bill or I hunt, but we do enjoy competitive shooting of clay targets. Bill's company Americase first made their mark in the retail world by creating gun cases that could travel on airlines with no damage to the guns. He created that first product in his garage at home because he was flying around the country shooting in skeet tournaments, and he was tired of his gun getting damaged. As the Americase gun case gained popularity it became the "go to" case for all guns that fly anywhere in the world including hunts. Today, the Americase products span many more industries than the shooting sports. Their products include the aerospace, airlines, computer, oil and gas industries and many, many more. They actually manufacture more than 700 aircraft parts, and built a case to fly the breathing gases to the locations in the world that send the oxygen tanks on rockets to deliver to the Space Station. Have a relaxing day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 "ANTIQUE TRACTOR" (HDR version) “Everybody had a tractor in the '40s. There's not much farming now. In the '40s and '50s you had more farmers than you had people working in the cities.” ~ Don Davis SURPRISE!!!! Although I rarely pp, I felt this "oldie but goodie" was worthy of Picnik's "HDR and Lomoish" effects and frames. Unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. Also, I photographed this same antique tractor during the fall of last year.
