June 11, 2011 This is the same abandoned station where the marching line of gas pumps were found. You can see that shot posted on June 5th here if you missed it. I know many of you have seen it because of the wonderful comments which are very appreciated. http://lgood.smugmug.com/Other/Daily-Photos-2010/12484643_ezMcC#1367630283_kkxm8S9 This is another set of gas pumps that are older in style, and were in front of the abandoned station. As I mentioned before, there were 100s of pumps around this place. It was so cool. And here's an old sign that was in front of this old place- http://lgood.smugmug.com/Other/Signs/7752337_483tx//1061733754_#1376000970_H7MsspG This was such a cool place and it brought back lots of memories for me from days gone by. I hope you all enjoy it. Linda
January 7, 2012 This shot was taken just after sundown somewhere along the Mississippi coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We had stopped to walk on the beautiful white-sand beaches and take some photos. Just as we left, we stopped at a nearby marina to put gas in the car and I couldn't resist taking this photo. Frame added in Picnik. I hope you enjoy this tranquil setting captured in this photo - it's going to be one of my favorites from our recent vacation. Check it out in X3 for all the color, reflections and details. Thanks for your comments!!! Have a fabulous weekend!!! Linda
An early October snowstorm in Colorado Springs; best viewed in the larger sizes. I think it is always challenging to try to capture the actual snow falling so that it looks natural. In the largest sizes, you can really see the snow falling, so I was pleased with this. I sure appreciated your comments on my shot of the snow at the hospital parking lot. This community is always so encouraging. Hope you had a good weekend!
9.2.09 - Snow and Rain We woke up to fresh snow again this morning, and although it was cold it was quite a pleasant day. That is, until I decided to go out and get a Daily. I had hoped to take some night snow shots around the Cathedral, but it was raining heavily! The last time I took some photos here I got a ghostly biker zooming through the shot, tonight it was a bedraggled walker. Apart from a crop to get rid of boring foreground this is straight out of camera. Despite me standing over it with an umbrella some rain managed to get on the lens, but I think it adds to the watery scene (well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it). For those that like to keep an eye on our Monday Challenges mine is here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/gallery/7093288_hSxt4#470456288_tRiRP
Day 37 - Love Thank you for all the great comments. I was quite nervous taking this set of flower photos for a wedding catalog because the flowers were to be used for a wedding the next morning. The client was rushing me in worries that the flowers being out of the refrigerator too long and its losing freshness. It was my first job shooting flowers commercially and that was quite an experience, to say the least.
2-1: Saturday evening we had quite a nice sunset, so I took a walk along the Poudre trail near Prospect street hoping to find some good views. I found this waterfall like thing.
Butterfly - Jun 3 2009 I was shooting roses today when all of a sudden 7 butterfies drew my attention. They seemed particularly fond of these tiny pinkish red flowers... and were not disturbed by my presence. I had a good 150 shots of them in less than 10 minutes. I like this shot because of the neat details on the head.
Soaking it in. Sunflower shot at my cousin's garden in Ahmedabad. www.javeri.net
September 11, 2009 John.. I took your advice last night.... half the bottle. ;) Yesterday was just one more chapter in a month and a half of nearly constant stress. It started with a very unpleasant surprise having to do with Ian's job (he still has it - nothing has changed with his position -just unpleasant financial news). Then some extended family issues that is very emotional and highly charged and yesterday - the air conditioner decided to start screetching like someone was taking a power tool to it. $650.00+ later we have a new fan motor. I really wanted to drink the entire bottle but couldn't because I have to be out and on the road by 7:15am. So John (very smart man that he is) suggested I just have half the bottle - which I did. Emily is home from school today - not feeling well at all. I will probably have her in to the doctor later this afternoon if I can get an appt. Why do kids (at least mine) always seem to get sick on Fridays and then there is the mad dash to the dr before the weekend hits.
September 23, 2007 Fog in the forest.
The Journey begins... Please accept my apologies if I do not get to your shot right aways. Please let me explain. Taking care of my mom is virtually like taking care of a toddler. She can only take a few steps and she has to have diapers. I giver her meds to her, I get her up and in the wheelchair to take her to the dinning room to eat. She can feed herself so that's good. Basically when she needs something I have to get it. So if I don't comment right away I haven't forgotten you I'm just in the middle of something. Have a GRATEFUL day. and smile... *
Turtle (Pic 249 2nd year - 24 Sep 2009) (D300 17-55 2.8 lens) No crop or PP except light adjustments. Shot at Kosgoda Turtle Hatchery near Galle, Sri Lanka. Kosgoda is famous for its turtle hatchery operated by the Wild Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1981 to protect Sri Lanka's turtles from extinction. The hatcheries pay fishermen for eggs that they collect at night along the long sandy beach. Visitors are shown the huge tanks filled with new born but lively hatchlings. After being fed the hatchlings are taken to the sea and released when they are 2-4 days old www.javeri.net
19.12.10 - Merry Christmas to One and All I usually wait until nearer the time before sending out my Smug Christmas cards, but the chaotic way things have been the last few days I thought I'd better "post early" in case events get in the way later. I actually joined Smugmug 3 years ago this Christmas Day, and the friendships that have followed have been one of the big positives of that time. In a world that sometimes looks like it wants to polarise itself to death, watching the planet turn on the Smugmug Dailies is a timely reminder that whoever we are, there are far more things that we have in common than divide us.
146 Jun 3/11 Crabapple Blossoms A few weeks ago I finally bought a 400mm lens for wildlife shots. Haven't used it too much for birds or animals so I thought I would try it on flowers. This was taken off the deck which is a few feet higher than the tree.
08OCT2012 Milling Around Dell's Mill aka Clark's Mill with some Fall foliage all lit up in the morning sun......Great place, scenic area with lots of barns to shoot as well. Image won First Place in the "Travel Category" n4c.us in October 2012, submitted through the Omaha Camera Club. Comments are welcome, lots of Wisconsin images to upload....have a great day! Dan, sorry we didn't know you lived there....great area.
