Tuesday, March 27, 2012 "HUMPTY DUMPTY" by Kimber Fiebiger "Love all; trust a few; do wrong to none." ~ Unknown Author And the nursery rhyme goes like this............ 'Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall: Humpty Dumpty had a great fall. All the King's horses and all the King's men Couldn't put Humpty Dumpty back together again.' Well, Kimber Fiebiger of Minneapolis, Minnesota made this delightful sculpture because she, "Just loves to put a smile on people's faces." Looks like Humpty Dumpty has been put back together again and is back on his throne, which I hope brings a smile to your face. Kim's official website is here: http://www.joanofart.com/?page_id=30 In the words of a great gospel song by Donnie McClurkin, "We fall down, but we get up!" Actually, Oprah Winfrey may have said it best: "If you should happen to fall, turn your wounds into wisdom." Finally, this is the last of the public art series in Mesa, AZ. Thank you for your appreciation and patience. A few more public art pieces can be viewed here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/20517416_FzGW22#!i=1656884744&k=fw75TPW Have a "well put together" and terrific Tuesday, my friends. ***#1 photo of the day and all-time*** (photo taken 12/28/2011) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
Thursday, February 2, 2012 "SUNNY SIDE UP" "Be a rose which gives fragrance, even to those who crush it. ~ Author Unknown SOOC comes this yellow rose of...........Arizona, and not Texas:)! According to history, yellow is a bright, sunny color that evokes a feeling of warmth and happiness. Akin to those shared with a true friend are the warm feelings associated with the yellow rose. It is also an ideal symbol for joy and friendship, in contrast to the romantic meanings attributed to other roses. Additionally, yellow roses can send the perfect message of appreciation and platonic love without the romantic subtext of other colors. Joy and delight are representative of the color yellow and an ideal way to brighten someone's day who may be feeling down. Finally, a yellow rose can bring out the smile in quite a way that no other flower can. I sure do thank you all for your comments; they are very much appreciated. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday. Tuesday, January 25, 2011 "PULLING STRAWS?" "Remember when looking in the mirror, it is always looking back at you; the reflections seen are only ever as kind or as ill as your own projections." ~ Morrigan I didn't have to pull straws for this one.......woo hoo!!! This is MY FIRST PP'd IMAGE (focal b/w, uncropped, however). I stepped outside of my comfort zone. Furthermore, I am such a "visual" person. On Sunday, after creating yesterday's POTD using marbles and the mirror, I decided to see what image I could create with straws and the mirror. Too much time on my hands? Well, all work and no play....... you know what they say. I am overwhelmingly appreciative of your comments regarding yesterday's "Marbelicious" photo. It landed in the #8 spot. Monday, December 17, 2010 "IKEBANA DOUBLE ENDER AND ROWBOAT with NIIJIMA FLOATS" by Dale Chihuly "Your attitude is like a box of crayons that color your world. Constantly color your picture gray, and your picture will always be bleak. Try adding some bright colors to the picture by including humor, and your picture begins to lighten up." ~ Allen Klein I've selected this one as my computer's screesaver. I am a huge admirer of Dale Chihuly's glass art. These were imported from Finland. The entire gallery of this collection can be viewed in my ArtScape folder. Friday, December 31, 2010 "DESERT WILDFLOWER TOWERS" by Dale Chihuly "As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs." ~ Sam Abell First of all, Donna McCommon, this is why I was so excited about your POTD yesterday; I had already chosen this picture to be my final post of the year when I arrived home from Arizona. This is SOOC without flash. I am a huge Dale Chihuly fan; great minds think alike! Secondly, I would like to thank you, fellow SmugMuggers, for your inspiring comments on my 2010 POTDs. I learned so much from many of you, made some new friends along the way, improved my photography skills immensely, and even had a photo (12/21/2010) to land in the #1 spot, two photos (12/17/2010 and 12/29/2010) to land in the #2 spot, and several to land in the top five. Who knew that posting a photo a day would render such rewards for a self-described "advanced amateur?" Moreover, I am so excited about perusing all of your 2011 fabulous photos, posting comments, and giving you a thumbs up. You ladies and gentlemen are meticulously discerning. I wish I could meet each of you on my route during this lifetime. Finally, as the world turns, we only have one life to live. May the guiding light that leads to another world keep us young at heart, unrestless, and out of General Hospital. My prayer for each of you is a safe, blessed, healthy, fun, and happy 2011. In spite of the bumps and bruises, God has been exceptionally kind to all of us. Sunday, February 20, 2011 "O is for ORNAMENT" "A true friend is someone who knows your faults and genuinely loves and accepts you anyway." ~ Unknown Author This is a beautiful, crystal Christmas tree ornament that was a gift from my best friend in 2009. I turned off the lights in the room to darken the background. Also, I intentionally did not position the camera to center the photo, because I had an "eye" for something different. Additionally, before I pushed the button to take the picture, I twisted the hanger to make the ornament spin - thus, the variations in color. Finally, as the French saying goes, "Voila!" Sunday, March 13, 2011 "NEWSPAPER WALL ART" "It is the common wonder of all men, how among so many million faces, there should be none alike." ~ Thomas Browne These are the faces of four famous icons; can you guess which ones? No cheating:). The artist/artists name(s) was/were not listed. The "great reveal" will be tomorrow. This is another photo from my four day job-related trip to the Gulf Coast, March 1 - 4, 2011. It's SOOC and uncropped. I love beautiful, unique and interesting art; this one is all three! It was created with newspapers; believe it or not!! "FLOWERING STILETTO" by Mary Consie of Mesa, AZ

"If loving shoes is wrong, I don't want to be right." ~ Godschild (Me)

This was also among my favorite sculptures that reminded me of all the ladies who love shoes as much as I do (including but not limited to): my mother, my two sisters, my aunts, my best friend, a co-worker Shelia, SmugMug ladies Linda, Paula, Janet, Maryann, Judy, Nelli, and all the other shoe-a-holics in the world.

"Flowering Stiletto," by Mary Consie of Mesa, AZ, was donated in memory of Jane Binkley (1940-2007) by her family. It was dedicated to the city of Mesa, AZ in July, 2008. Flowering Stiletto depicts a 6 foot long stiletto with a flower growing out of it. The sculpture is made of steel. Consie has said that due to having flat feet, she can't wear small shoes and creates large versions instead. Originally the sculpture was purchased by a resident of Tempe, AZ. The purchaser then donated it to the city of Mesa and dedicated it to his late wife, Jane Binkley, who had a large (in number, not in size) shoe collection.

Have a funtagious, footloose, francy-free, and high-steppin' weekend. TGIF!!!!
