Thursday, July 30, 2015 "OH, NUTS!" "The toughest part of getting to the top is getting through the crowd at the bottom." ~ Author Unknown Finally, I photographed a squirrel, but it wasn't easy. When I spotted it, the 18-55mm lens was attached to the camera. I had to get back in the car, change lenses (attached the 18- 105mm lens, since I didn't have my 70 to 300mm f4.55.6G ED IF AFS VR Zoom Lens). I got back out of the car and tiptoed up to the tree as close as I could and snapped these three photos. I welcome and appreciate professionally appropriate comments and genuinely honest, constructive, non-condescending critiques from all viewers. All other thoughtless, fiendish, and idiosyncratic nonsense will be deleted. Amen! Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday. Almost there! (best full size) This photo captures the instant before the eagle takes the lure in the competition for the eagle to return to its owner, Eagle Festivel, Olgii, Western Mongolia The previous frame, taken a fraction of a second before this, by comparison to this frame, shows the speed at which the eagle moves. July 30 2015 Shopping list I started the Dailies about this time in 2008. A lot of people have been here and gone since then. Things change. I always thought John Bennett would turn out the lights and lock up.
Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. August 23, 2010 "STAINED GLASS WINDOW" "People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is light from within." ~ Elisabeth Kübler-Ross Old Louisiana State Capitol Baton Rouge, LA
New & Old Jul 30 Pretty, cute, small lavender flowers. Not sure what they are!
July 30. Christmas Tree Worms on Brain Coral while diving in Isla Mujeres Mexico. The worms' most distinct features are two "crowns" shaped like Christmas trees. These are highly modified prostomial palps, which are specialized mouth appendages. Each spiral is composed of feather-like tentacles called radioles, which are heavily ciliated and cause any prey trapped in them to be transported to the worm's mouth. While they are primarily feeding structures, they also uses its radioles for respiration; hence, the structures commonly are called "gills." Because it does not move outside its tube, this worm does not have any specialized appendages for movement or swimming. If you get to close, they completely disappear, they retract very quickly back into their tube.
