April 7, 2013 Here's another one from the archives - an awesome 1968 Chevelle SS owned by a good friend of ours. It's a beauty and his pride and joy. "If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1,000 MPG." ~ Bill Gates I know you all get tired of me saying that I'm back on the road again, but such is my life. I'm leaving in the morning for a business trip to Albany, NY, then catching the train Wednesday to NYC. Will be there through Friday. The good news is - we are taking Thursday night off & going to see Wicked on Broadway. I'm really looking forward to that. I'll be carrying my little point & shoot on this trip, so fingers crossed that I get some decent shots in between business meetings. Have a blessed Sunday my friends. Linda
Spring April 1 Some spring offerings from my Bradford pear tree.
Watching darkness spread over the canyon, you see more clearly than in full daylight which are the highest points and what are the spatial relationships among the various fins, peaks, buttes, ridges, etc. DP089-2015 Posted Monday, March 30 A few words about leveling or straightening photographs of this part of the world. There are two very large problems with using features in the photos themselves as references. One is that the Colorado Plateau itself is not level. Using a distant horizon can be misleading. The other is that in viewing the Grand Canyon, very rarely are rock faces in which there are strata which might be roughly level oriented in planes parallel to the camera's focal plane. It becomes a big guessing game. I use a spirit level mounted to my camera, but don't always remember to check it. My guess is that this panorama is a few degrees off level, but not more than that. I chose not to make any further adjustments, since that always produces loss of the image content. Panorama of a Grand Canyon sunset, seen from Yavapai Point. Stitched from two handheld shots (shared camera settings: f/8, 1/80 sec, ISO 200, focal length 23 mm (equiv. to ~ 37 mm in 35 mm format)) Title: A stitch in time - Panorama of a slice of geologic time, the Grand Canyon

April 2, 2015 The Leica booth was directly across from our booth at the Safari Club International show in Las Vegas. They sold a lot of scopes at the show, but one of the most interesting things (to me at least) was they had two camera models there & they sold out of both of them. I talked to this fellow occasionally who was a photographer as well. Very interesting personality and hair. Very nice guy also. "Beauty is about perception, not about make-up. I think the beginning of all beauty is knowing and liking oneself. You can't put on make-up, or dress yourself, or do you hair with any sort of fun or joy if you're doing it from a position of correction." ~ Kevyn Aucoin Thank you for your comments and critiques. Here's hoping that everyone has a great hair day today. ;-) Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
Humpback Whale - taken near Maui.
Red-Crested Cardinal - taken on Maui. I really appreciate the comments!
Toy Hauler and the Bulldog... This vehicle has been a regular at the show. Always brings a big smile. The dog looks real from a distance, except it's not moving! WACC Classic Car Show 2015 Whittier Area Community Church (WACC) Whittier, CA http://www.wacc.net/ This winds up my series on the WACC Classic Car Show. As always, thanks for your support! Critiques welcome... April 1, 2015
