1-16: Thursday morning we woke up to thick fog again. It lasted till about noon. I was able to go out on my lunch break and take some shots along the river right after the fog lifted. The fog had frozen to the tree branches and bushes. I was able to get some shots before it all melted.

Doing my afternoon walk, saw the clouds forming over the city pond. Took a few shots and decided to convert it into B/W
Sumac leaves that turned early, even earlier than usual for sumac. DP241-2014 Posted (late) August 29; processed ditto Feeling snakebit after four+ days of non-existent or unreliable internet service, I decided to wait today to see whether the normal signal that miraculously reappeared this morning would last through the day. I didn't want another day like yesterday, where it took literally about 30 minutes in the a.m. to upload my DP (repeated timings out because of dropped and slow signal), and then no signal at all during the evening hours, once I returned home. So I couldn't leave any comments. Grrr!!! Today, so far, so good. I'll take a chance that I can leave comments after dinner. And double thanks to Judy Horton (fotoeffects) for correctly surmising they could be begonias. I've updated my caption to that post accordingly.

Thursday, August 28, 2014 "A QUIET MAN vs A QUIET WOMAN" “Few people make sound or sustainable decisions in an atmosphere of chaos. The more serious the situation, usually accompanied by a deadline, the more likely everyone will get excited and bounce around like water on a hot skillet. At those times, I try to establish a calm zone but retain a sense of urgency. Calmness protects order, ensures that we consider all the possibilities, restores order when it breaks down, and keeps people from shouting over each other. You are in a storm. The captain must steady the ship, watch all the gauges, listen to all the department heads, and steer through it. If the leader loses his head, confidence in him will be lost and the glue that holds the team together will start to give way. So assess the situation, move fast, be decisive, but remain calm and never let them see you sweat.” ~ General Colin Luther Powell, excerpt from "It Worked for Me: In Life and Leadership" And might I add that although the Bible declares that........"in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength." ~ Isaiah 30:15 (The Bible, KJV), sadly, the Israelites chose to trust in men instead of God. Remember, "He who angers you, conquers you.” ~ Elizabeth Kenny Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! ***#14 photo of the day*** (photo taken 7/15/2014) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com

February 27, 2013 Another old, abandoned building in the mining, Ghost Town of Silver City, Nevada. I really wonder why all the apparent openings in the roof. But alas - as I mentioned yesterday, there wasn't anyone around on this Sunday to ask. I processed this with Picmonkey's daguerreotype filter and rather liked the way it looked. Here's the original shot - let me know which one you like best. http://lgood.smugmug.com/Architecture/Buildings/7752393_7Pg76q#!i=2359563656&k=2ncjGzD Have a fantastic day today my friends!
