Storks at sunrise Pair of Jabiru storks on their nest at sunrise. Every evening the storks went back to their large messy nest on the Fazenda St Tereza and very morning just after sunrise they flew off to fish. I had to get up early to catch them still on the nest. July 26, 2012 "It was a somber place, haunted by old jokes and lost laughter. Life, as I discovered, holds no more wretched occupation than trying to make the English laugh. " ~ Malcolm Muggeridge Best viewed in larger sizes. SOOC This is another shot from the inside of the Catfish Plantation (see yesterday's potd) looking out the window of one of the many dining rooms. You can see he structure of the old building and how it is so beautifully painted. The "wavy" feel that you experience when looking through the window is not a character flaw in the wood, nor a camera malfunction. It is in fact the texture of the window glass. This is old window glass called float glass that was made by floating liquid glass on a molten metal, often tin. This old style of glass always has the inherent ripples and waves. To read more about how float glass was made, click here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Float_glass Have a 'hauntingly - good" day today my friends! And............have some fried catfish! :-)) Linda

April 19, 2015 Several weeks ago we drove two hours from home to catch a ride on the Texas State Railroad Steam train. It starts in Palestine, TX and you ride through the wonderful east Texas forests in the old rail cars. After about a 2 hour ride, you are in Rusk, Texas. There's a 1.5 hour break for the riders to have lunch. We always pack a picnic lunch to enjoy with the kids. It's a fun, fun time. Then we board the train again for the return 2 hour trip. We love this ride. Of course, I do have a whole family of train nuts, and I guess you can say they've converted me too. This is a photo of oldest grandson Case (in the rear) and his younger brother Benjamin as they walked the rails while we were waiting to board the steam train. I applied a Topaz oil painting filter. "As a child I found railroad stations exciting, mysterious, and even beautiful, as indeed they often were." ~ Paul Johnson Thank you for your comments and critiques. Storks at sunrise

Pair of Jabiru storks on their nest at sunrise. Every evening the storks went back to their large messy nest on the Fazenda St Tereza and very morning just after sunrise they flew off to fish. I had to get up early to catch them still on the nest. Pixaim River, Pantanal, Brazil
