4.8.08 - Ripples I had intended to do another SP today, I thought it was about time, otherwise I'd start getting bullied again (you know who you are MB!). But it has been a very hectic day, I'll try to summarise it without boring anyone :) I had barely finished my breakfast when I got a phone call, total change of plans for today. Apart from a few minutes over a late lunch, when I actually managed to get home, I've been on the move all day. I finally got back at 9pm, with a stack of emails to answer and more phone messages. Most of these mean more changes of plan for tomorrow, and more work, but one was good news, really good news. I have won my first photographic competition, hooray, and this is the image that won. I took it nearly a year ago, as one of a series, and it has remained one of my favourites. I would do certain things differently if I got the chance, but throwing a pebble into a lake to generate your own ripples is a neat trick, if you get your aim and the timing right :) Unfortunately I have a pile of paperwork to do before the morning, so I can't promise that I'll be able to catch up with the Dailies, but I'll try later. But for now I'm going to have a beer, if I can drink it with this big daft grin on my face :))
Cucumber beetle on a straw flower; best viewed in the largest size. Thanks for the commentary on my shot of the liquor bottle on the grave. It is nice to know so many of you felt as I did about the gesture. Hope your week got off to a good start. It is quite a bit colder here today but no snow so far. Have a good day!
September 23, 2007 Fog in the forest.
The Journey begins... Please accept my apologies if I do not get to your shot right aways. Please let me explain. Taking care of my mom is virtually like taking care of a toddler. She can only take a few steps and she has to have diapers. I giver her meds to her, I get her up and in the wheelchair to take her to the dinning room to eat. She can feed herself so that's good. Basically when she needs something I have to get it. So if I don't comment right away I haven't forgotten you I'm just in the middle of something. Have a GRATEFUL day. and smile... *
1/15/09 CRABAPPLES IN THE SNOWSTORM With temperatures plummeting and more snow on the way, I added a little color to brighten this cold, cold, winter day... Hope you're staying warm...and feeding the birds AND squirrels... :-)
March 31, 2009... After the storm.
2-1: Saturday evening we had quite a nice sunset, so I took a walk along the Poudre trail near Prospect street hoping to find some good views. I found this waterfall like thing.
Day 37 - Love Thank you for all the great comments. I was quite nervous taking this set of flower photos for a wedding catalog because the flowers were to be used for a wedding the next morning. The client was rushing me in worries that the flowers being out of the refrigerator too long and its losing freshness. It was my first job shooting flowers commercially and that was quite an experience, to say the least.
Cotton-grass grows in wetlands. They are app. 30 cm (1 ft) high, so I got wet elbows and stomach to catch them at this angle
January 7, 2012 This shot was taken just after sundown somewhere along the Mississippi coast of the Gulf of Mexico. We had stopped to walk on the beautiful white-sand beaches and take some photos. Just as we left, we stopped at a nearby marina to put gas in the car and I couldn't resist taking this photo. Frame added in Picnik. I hope you enjoy this tranquil setting captured in this photo - it's going to be one of my favorites from our recent vacation. Check it out in X3 for all the color, reflections and details. Thanks for your comments!!! Have a fabulous weekend!!! Linda
An early October snowstorm in Colorado Springs; best viewed in the larger sizes. I think it is always challenging to try to capture the actual snow falling so that it looks natural. In the largest sizes, you can really see the snow falling, so I was pleased with this. I sure appreciated your comments on my shot of the snow at the hospital parking lot. This community is always so encouraging. Hope you had a good weekend!
Springtime has finally come to our part of the world
15.04.12 - Distant Impressions Every now and again people ask me why I call my photographic business "Light and Dreams Photography". It is difficult to express in a few words, but this image sums it up. For me photography is all about the light, and trying to create dreams with it, which sounds very pretentious, but it is how I feel in my heart. Most of the time this isn't possible, you can only do so much with the conditions at the time, and my skills aren't enough to make something beautiful every time I click the shutter, unlike the photographers I aspire to. But yesterday evening the light was absolutely magical, which made things a lot easier :) This is more or less the reverse shot to yesterday's Daily, but a totally different perspective of course. I actually took about 90 photos while walking the dog, but most were very similar as I tried to catch the golden glow of the low sunlight on the oilseed rape fields. I've made a small gallery from the walk here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Landscapes/GOLDEN-FIELDS/22464665_tx7qcS#!i=1796050231&k=gBmQbsJ

Thursday, June 7, 2012 "DELICATE BEAUTIES" “Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.” ~ Dr. Maya Angelou This summer, I am only perusing and commenting on photos as my limited time permits. Although it is summer vacation, I am not idle. This is a very busy time for me, as I have embarked upon a new and very challenging endeavor. Don't miss a blooming thing this spring! This is one of my favorite flower captures. An abundance of colors, fragrances, and scenic views await you in these gardens. Also, I read that the meaning of hibiscus is "delicate beauty;" thus, the caption. These orange hibiscuses are amazing tropical flowers that come in many shapes, sizes and varieties. They are known for their beauty and their large, colorful blooms. You can plant hibiscus flowers indoors, outdoors, as a shrub, or as a simple flower. With all of the different options available, who would not want to plant this flower? SPEAKING OF SPORTS: In the words of Reggie Miller, we watched "greatness grow up" last night as the "young guns" of OKC defeated the San Antonio Spurs in OKC and ended the series 4 - 2. OKC has advanced to the NBA Finals........woo hoo!! Tonight, Boston Celtics will host Miami Heat in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The series is 3 - 2 with Boston leading the way. The family and I are pulling for Boston. If Boston is victorious tonight, they will go on to face OKC in the NBA Finals - date TBD. I truly appreciate your comments on yesterday's "Banana Tree" photo; it was the #2 photo of the day. Congrats to Maryann (aka "fotomom") for the #1 photo. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday.
