Without the bluebonnets Just outside Marble Falls, the area around this deserted house usually explodes with bluebonnets -- just not this year.
05/06/15: This was one of many of my Father-in-Law's clowns. He had an amazing collection that he gathered throughout the years. Now that he has passed on, his clowns remind us of the joy they brought to him.
January 8. My daily surroundings. Deers come visiting us every day.
Day 126: NYC Public Library Lions - May 6. The two well-loved NYC Public Library Lions, Patience and Fortitude, stand guard over the entrance to the Beaux-Arts building on Fifth Avenue framed by beds of tulips and the spring greens of the grass, shrubs and trees beginning to leaf out.
May 6, 2015 I love Roosters and Hens, don’t you ?
Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. The original image can be viewed here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/gallery/16609546_tdrqK#!i=1274849067&k=9MMHm66&lb=1&s=A Your comments on yesterday's "Got Mail" POTD are really appreciated; you all are really a wonderful community of photographers who are also supportive and helpful. God is and has been exceptionally kind to all of us; have a blessed and safe Sunday, everyone. Mock Orange... Fullerton Arboretum Fullerton, CA Thanks for your views, comments and critiques, all appreciated! May 6, 2015
This is a beautiful 1963 Thunderbird. I love the reflections in the front left bumper and the center panel. She is a beauty & loved her green original paint. I was going to make this a Daily later in the week, but it slipped out and got some comments before I could hide it, so I decided to leave it and here it is. Believe me, I LOVE the comments - thanks so very, very much. Hope you enjoy! Linda
Monday, May 16, 2011 "442 CUTLASS OLDSMOBILE" (The Metamorphosis) "It allows you to say things that sound very dramatic and get away with it. If you had characters in modern fiction say the same things as they're driving down the street in an Oldsmobile, they'd sound ludicrous." ~ Terry Goodkind Slight pp; uncropped Here's another Lgood inspired automobile capture. This cobalt blue baby was one of my hubby's favorites in the show. Unfortunately, there was not an information card, but while we were at the car show, my hubby (who loves antique cars) informed me that this is a "442 Cutlass Olds." He also stated that the chrome on the rear bumper, in all likelihood, has been redone. You can see a glimpse of my black / white animal print jacket and red cape in the bumper. There was a chilly breeze and the temps had dropped to mid 50s. Yes, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. The original can be viewed here: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/16609546_tdrqK#1274849706_xFHRmdP Also, I did some research and according to Wikipedia, "The Oldsmobile 442 (pronounced four-four-two) was a muscle car produced by the Oldsmobile division of General Motors. It was introduced as an option package for F-85 and Cutlass models sold in the United States beginning with the 1964 model year. It became a model in its own right from 1968 to 1971, then reverted to an option through the mid-1970s. Oldsmobile revived the name in the 1980s on the rear-wheel drive Cutlass Supreme and early 1990s as an option package for the new front-wheel drive Cutlass." (Reprinted text from here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldsmobile_442) Furthermore, I am overwhelmingly and humbly appreciative of your comments on yesterday's "Antique Chevy." It landed in the #2 spot. Congrats to my friend sharkbayte whose "Clouds" pic was #1. View it here: http://sharkbayte.smugmug.com/Photography/2011-Daily-Photos/15280496_zofpQ#1291649048_zdNjmgz Enjoy today; a "blue" Monday may not be so bad after all (smile). ***#1 photo of the day and all time*** Show Your Ride Car Show Memphis, TN My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
The Male Peacock (Peafowl) Los Angeles County Arboretum There is a large population of peacocks at the Arboretum. The story is EJ Baldwin saw his first peacock in India during his world tour in 1867. He later had a huge windfall from a stock increase and when the stock was sold he imported the peafowl in 1880. This gentleman posed for quite some time with his beautiful plumage! Their feathers have a natural iridescent color and the detail is quite amazing!
05-06-2015 "Could I Help You?" The look on this duck's face as it stopped when I took the photo made me laugh. Your comments are always welcome and appreciated. Donna
05.05.15 - Dog and Blossom Just a quick shot of Willis and some cherry blossom. I'd hoped to be able to throw some in the air and get a shot of it falling over him, but he didn't co-operate :)
Saturday, December 20, 2014 "FINAL DAY OF AUTUMN/FALL" 2014 "In the garden, Autumn is, indeed the crowning glory of the year, bringing us the fruition of months of thought and care and toil. And at no season, save perhaps in daffodil time, do we get such superb colour effects as from August to November." ~ Rose G. Kingsley SOOC, uncropped, no flash Christmas countdown...........5 days away! My youngest sister and her family arrived safely from Georgia last night - woo hoo! The first day of winter is tomorrow, so I thought I'd post a final photo depicting the beauty of autumn/fall - my favorite time of year. And yes, the leaves were really that vivid. I always say that Mother Nature is amazing and she sure knows how to put on a show! I am appreciative of your comments yesterday pertaining to my "Down By The Riverfront" photo. There are always phenomenal photos posted in this community from so many talented and meticulously discerning photographers; and as you can tell, I enjoy viewing and commenting on as many of them as time permits. Revisiting and processing Jasper files. Woke up to at least 4 inches of snow this morning and a new government!
May 3, 2011 A little break from the car photos today. This is a shot of some Hackberry Emperor Butterflies on some shrubs outside our house. We are just covered with these little butterflies and they love the blooms on this shrub. Papa, help me out with the name of this shrub. These lovely little butterflies are not the only bugs in our yard, we have "June Bugs" everywhere (not sure that's their real name) but they are like little brown, kamokazi bugs that throw themselves violently into the doors & windows of the house. The June Bugs dive into the doors & windows every night for the last 2 nights. They are everywhere & nasty little buggers. I'd like more of these pretty little butterflies please - no more nasty June bugs. Best viewed in X2. PP is Topaz spicify filter - it's fast becoming one of my favorites. Hope you enjoy these pretty little butterflies! Best Regards, Linda
