07/24/14 - Spiderweb at the Linn Cove Viaduct My Blog I was able to take this neat spiderweb shot with the help of Donnie's finger to get the focus right.  This web is soooooo tiny and delicate, and the light was very low.  I'm glad I had the help!  What an odd square shape but interesting natural pattern. SmugMug Link The spiderweb shot was taken while walking on the Tanawha Trail under the Linn Cove Viaduct.  What a fascinating engineering feat and beautiful spot in nature. Douglas A-1E(AD-5) Skyraider... The Douglas A-1 Skyraider (formerly AD) was an American single-seat attack aircraft that saw service between the late 1940s and early 1980s. It became a piston-powered, propeller-driven anachronism in the jet age, and was nicknamed "Spad", after the French World War I fighter. The Skyraider had a remarkably long and successful career, even inspiring its straight-winged, slow-flying, jet-powered successor, the A-10 Thunderbolt II. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_A-1_Skyraider Planes of Fame Air Show, May 3-4, 2014 Chino Airport Chino, CA http://planesoffame.org/ Thanks for your views and comments, much appreciated! 07.25.14 Bessie the Cow Yeah, this is a dog, but when Wayne adopted her she came with the name of Bessie the Cow. Wayne likes to tell people that that is her full name. Yesterday I felt terrible and got very little done. Hopefully today I will feel more productive.
24.07.14 - Let the Games Commence This is the centre of town at the moment, with a big screen so that people can watch the Commonwealth Games while shopping! There is a continental food market on the High Street behind me, and I did spend a few minutes on the astroturf eating a French Tart while England's Brownlee brothers took gold and silver in the triathlon :)

Field of Mustard Flowers Summer in Idaho is a beautiful thing. These mustard fields blew my mind with their sunshine yellow color!
In the past year or so, Matthaei Botanical Gardens has taken what to my mind is a long overdue step and begun installing sculptures at various locations in the outside gardens. I think such works add a great deal to one's enjoyment of the spaces. Shown here is a work in cast bronze titled 'Face of Infinity', by Ted Bell. I was unsuccessful in finding anything online about either the artist or the work itself. It sits at the boundary between the Children's Garden and the Herb Garden portions of Matthaei. DP206-2014 Posted (late) July 25; created ditto I make no comment on my own response to this particular work. I don't want to bias or prejudice others viewing it for the first time. As you can see in the center panels, a bed of deep orange crocosmia is in bloom behind this work. Yellow daylilies and pale purple bergamot are also in bloom further away. I used a crop of one of my photos of the crocosmia to creat the top and bottom panels of the composite. Individual photos were taken July 18, 2014, at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens Title: 'Face of Infinity' Among the Eternal Beauty of Flowers
Friday, July 25, 2014 "ALONE" “It is better to be alone than in bad company." ~ George Washington I like sitting by the window, bird watching, and taking in the activity on the "Rez" when dining at this restaurant. Afterwards, I followed this duck and snapped several shots, but I favored this one. It looked so sad, despairing, and lonesome to me. I watched it get out of the water and make its way to dry land - all the while keeping its eyes on the ducks that remained in the water. The weather was perfect and the day was beautiful. Have a day of being alone, but not lonely - or in great company; the choice is yours!
