Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. 'Blowing Bubbles'...03/30/2011... Getting a tiny bit closer to where I would like to be...had about 30-40 minutes yesterday to roam about the yard...found this and a few other things...
Kayaking the Cache le Poudre River in Colorado at flood stage; best viewed in the larger sizes. I have other shots of kayakers in which they are hitting bigger water, but I admit to liking this one because of the contrast with the kayak and the water and the way the water is boiling in the shot. Thanks for all the comments on my shot of the aspen trunks. Much appreciated. Hope you have a great day!
This is my 1975 Porsche, which we had restored a year or so ago. I took the photo at the Sonic in Woodland Park, where we had driven for a Father's Day outing. I forgot about the photos I took that day and just rediscovered them and processed them. I've had the Porsche for about 20 years. Thanks to everyone who commented on my Balloon Man and Little Girl shot. I have to admit that I thought there was something sort of universal in the interaction between them. The week seems to be barreling along. I hope you have a good day today!
101509 39/365 Oct 15/09 Thanksgiving Flower Still getting milage out of the Thanksgiving bouquet.
August 10, 2011 Hey guys, I didn't take this photo (obviously), but I thought you all might enjoy it. This is a shot of me (left front of the photo) and my husband Bill (right front of the photo) doing the white water raft trip down the Rio Grande River in New Mexico. This was my first rafting trip, and Bill's 47th (I think). It was scary, thrilling & a lot of fun. This shot is just before we hit two big rocks, and on the second slam against the rock, I went flying out of the raft. Man, was that water cold! Fortunately when I went out, the boat was still pretty close, and I quickly got my wits about me and grabbed hold of the rope around the outer edge of the raft. Thank goodness for the safety talk before we started! And, my sweetheart, Bill saved me, and pulled me out of the river, and back into the boat. In the craziness of flipping out of the boat, I lost one of my "blingy" flip flops (I was sad). But glad to be back in the boat. A few miles down the river a guy in a kayak was padding upstream against the tide. He got close to our raft and was holding up my shoe. He said, " Did anyone loose this shoe? It has so much bling on it that it blinded me." I loved that I got my missing shoe back. We laughed a lot on this trip & it was much fun. The other couple in the raft were great & Sydney our guide was awesome. This was shot by the raft company and I did some PP on it with Topaz adujst. I liked the outcome. Processing it brought back some fun memories of our trip to Taos. Have a great day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Linda

Thursday, July 12, 2012 "CARNIVAL BOAT" with REEDS, MARLINS, and NIIJIMA FLOATS by Dale Chihuly "The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most." ~ John Ruskin SOOC, uncropped Color my world - the sheer exuberance of a boat full of party balloons!! Here's a closeup of the boat that was in yesterday's photo. I like fab, but not drab. I LOVE color, and apparently, so does Dale Chihuly. If art is the expression of imagination, then Dale and I both dream in very vivid colors. An encounter with Dale Chihuly's works is always a spectacular reminder that glass is not just something to see through or drink out of. "Chihuly first filled boats wit his glass elements in Nuutajarvi, Finland during the Chihuly Over Venice project in June 1995. After several days of glassblowing in the hotshop, the team made temporary installations along the Nuutajoki, the river nearby. Chihuly then filled it with Chandelier parts and other glass forms that were blown during the Finland trip." ~ Reprinted text from DA&BG's brochure Dale Chihuly's official website is www.chihuly.com Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! Friday, July 13, 2012 "FLOAT BOAT and CARNIVAL BOAT" (with Niijima Floats, Reeds, and Marlins) by Dale Chihuly "Colour is life; for a world without colours appears to us as dead." ~ Johannes Itten SOOC, uncropped My FAVORITE in this exhibit and located in the infinity pool with a view of White Rock Lake in the background....... An encounter with Dale Chihuly's works is always a spectacular reminder that glass is not just something to see through or drink out of. The glass work transforms the area into a wonderland of colors. This dramatic Chihuly exhibit offers a spectacular display of color and plenty of unique art forms around every corner. "Chihuly first filled boats wit his glass elements in Nuutajarvi, Finland during the Chihuly Over Venice project in June 1995. After several days of glassblowing in the hotshop, the team made temporary installations along the Nuutajoki, the river nearby. Chihuly then filled it with Chandelier parts and other glass forms that were blown during the Finland trip." ~ Reprinted text from DA&BG's brochure Artist's Statement.........."I've never done anything like the Floats. They are probably the most monumental-looking, since there's no reminiscence of a container shape. Just because they are so big, the Floats are technically, or let's say physically, the most difficult things that we have ever done. Even though a sphere or a ball is about the easiest form you can make in glass, when you get to this scale, up to forty inches in diameter, it becomes extremely difficult." ~ Dale Chihuly Dale Chihuly's official website is www.chihuly.com Oh Happy Friday! Delicate Swan - Sep 23 2010 She (he?) was all alone... Did some (LOL) PP on this shot to make a kinda delicate picture.
Golden Fields & Blue Mountains October 2008 Taken in Montana, Madison River Valley, just after a storm.
Soaking it in. Sunflower shot at my cousin's garden in Ahmedabad. www.javeri.net
February 21, 2011 - "Restoration Questionable" This vehicle is on display in front of some Key West stores. I did some research and believe that nameplate on the hood is part of the original vehicle. Your response to my Key West sunset image was greatly appreciated.
September 23, 2007 Fog in the forest.
