July 5, 2015 Hoping everyone had a fun and safe 4th.
Taken In the same bright sunlight as the white peonies but this bush was sheltered from the wind and out of the sun a little bit. Red roses are so enchanting!! 13/06/15
No cropping but a bit of tweaking on this one. It was taken awhile ago and since it is almost 30c out there today, this one looks pretty inviting right now. Wouldn't the breeze on the water feel good ? Yay sunshine and warmth!! 27/05/15
March 4, 2015 Thanks to each of you for your amazing comments and critiques on my window shadow photo yesterday, I was just blown away and very grateful. The diverse beauty of America never ceases to amaze me. This gorgeous vista is just outside of Jerome, Arizona. At this scenic spot, you can see almost forever. The layers and colors of the landscape beyond this point which rise to the horizon to meet the sky and clouds is just breathtaking. If ever you find yourself here, I assure you that you will be forever grateful to have seen this lovely view. "Years ago - in the 70s, for about a decade - I carried a camera every place I went. And I shot a lot of pictures that were still life and landscape, using available light." ~ Leonard Nimoy RIP Leonard Nimoy Have a beautiful day today my friends. Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
July 5, 2015 This is a rather "ho-hum" photo of a tree in our backyard, but I liked it for the play of light on the leaves. I hope you all like it too. "I thank you God for this most amazing day, for the leaping greenly spirits of trees, and for the blue dream of sky and for everything which is natural, which is infinite, which is yes." ~ e. e. cummings Have a lovely and green day today my friends! February 27, 2015 I probably should have saved this for the final Sunday of Judy's Still Life challenge since I've had very little time to focus on the challenge. I have so much enjoyed everyone's photos in the challenge, and I've found that I'm not very good at staging still lives to photograph. Part of it has been the lack of time to focus, but most of it is the talent to do so. This was taken somewhere in Arizona on last summer's vacation. We love the southwest, and this brings back good memories of our last trip there. Thank you for your comments and critiques, they are always appreciated. And a very special thank you to those that commented on my POTD yesterday as I know you had to go to my SM site to do so. Here's hoping SM gets whatever they are doing fixed, and back to normal. Have a joyful day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
March 2, 2015 I took this photo on the evening of February 21st while I was grilling steaks on the patio around 8:00. That was before our little cold, snowy and then rainy weather blew in the next day. While working on the grill, I just happened to notice how the sliver of moon looked so cool between the branches of one of our Red Oak trees. Then, I noticed the bight star just below it & to the right that was shining so clearly, so I ran in the house, grabbed the camera, and took this photo. It's a hand-held shot and grittier than I would have liked, but I think it turned out ok for a quick experimental shot. After a short Internet search of Earthsky, I determined that the bright star to the lower right (if the moon is 12:00, Venus is at about 4:30) was the planet Venus. Cool, huh? I've never had any luck at all getting good moon shots, so for me I liked this one pretty well. Far from the great shots many of you have put up, but this is the first moon shot that I've taken & sort of liked. "Shoot for the moon and if you miss you will still be among the stars." ~ Les Brown Thank you for your comments on my corny still life yesterday, they were very much appreciated. Have a day full of delight and mystery! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
