Common black hawk grabs a fish (best larger) Pixaim River, Pantanal, Brazil. The hardest shots to get are those where the subject is heading fast straight for the camera. It took a lot of trying but I finally managed to catch a hawk head-on at the moment it grabbed a fish. March 26, 2015 This is Guy Combes, an artist that was at work during the Safari Club International show in Las Vegas. His booth was very close to ours, so I had a great view of him working and his art. I went over & visited with him a few times during breaks. He's a very nice fellow and he did give me permission to take and post his photo on SM. He is quite an accomplished artist, adventurer and photographer. You can see that he's painting some birds here from a photo on his iPad (in the background). He told me what kind of birds they are, but I forgot. I fell in love with one of his Lion paintings and I purchased a Giclee of it, and it's now hanging in our home. I love it. To see more of his work, here's his website: http://www.guycombes.com/Home_Page.html "All painters are interested in photography to a certain extent." ~ David Hockney Have a creative day today my friends! Thursday, March 26, 2015 "POPS OF COLOR" "Museums provide places of relaxation and inspiration. And most importantly, they are a place of authenticity. We live in a world of reproductions - the objects in museums are real. It's a way to get away from the overload of digital technology." ~ Thomas P. Campbell This is the interior of the building that I posted a photo of on Tuesday. I guess you know the colors attracted my attention, since I am a self-described "colorholic." Additionally, I like the light, shadows, textures, and shapes. We arrived about ten minutes prior to closing, so we didn't get a full tour; but of course, my camera was with me and I photographed what I could. This is near the entrance/front desk. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! March 26 - Gray Wolves This image was also taken at the Wolf and Grizzly Learning Center in West Yellowstone Thanks so much for all your kind comments on my Heckler image I posted yesterday of the Grizzly and Raven. They are always appreciated.
The Eagle has Landed Mar 26 A follow up to an eagle shot I posted earlier this week, where the eagle was prepping to land.
25.03.15 - Motherby Hill These shots are from my guided photo walk last night. I can't believe that I've never taken the walks up the steep ancient pathway of Motherby Hill before. It is actually built on top of the western Roman wall to Lincoln, with the remains of the defensive ditch still visible. Some limestone blocks from the old wall have also been incorporated into surrounding walls and buildings, it is a fascinating route from the modern city up to the old historic quarter on top of the hill. We started round about sunset and were there for about 45 minutes as some really nice light developed
