6/19/13 - Dale Chihuly installation at the Seattle Center; again, the room was almost completely dark except for the lighting on the installation. Like all of the shots of the inside part of the exhibition, this was shot handheld. No flash was used.

Thanks so much for your response to my street scene with the curly haired guy! I'm glad so many of you found it interesting.

2013-06-19 Oil and Water

Another rainy night, another day with no clue what to photograph. I ditched my 50mm and broke out the macro lens. I decided to play with oil & water. I have seen this done before but have never attempted it myself. Stopped at the dollar store and picked up a few brightly colored large gift bags to use as the backdrop. Very fun project that I will do more with. First off though is to buy a new glass pan that has no scratches or a big pyrex symbol in the middle. So much clean up to be done. This was my favorite of my first attempt.
June 19 - Lake Swim Area Buoy

Another image from an early foggy morning at the lake. Thanks for your comments on my black and white image of the water tube slide.
18.06.13 - Depth of Field, in the Field :)

I've been so busy recently, for every hour spent taking photos we seem to spend at least 5 hours processing them, including liaising back and forth with clients. After a day in front of a monitor it is good to get out in the fresh air and unwind, and Mr Willis gives the perfect excuse to leave the house. This is classic Mr Willis, he is such a happy dog when he is out in the countryside, he only really stands still when he is looking to see why I'm lagging behind. I seem to take the majority of my photos at either 18mm or 200mm, with a small proportion in between. I love big expansive landscapes, but I also love isolating scenes within scenes like this. I love playing around with the shallow depths of field that long lenses and low f-stops give. When I first saw this image I was a bit disappointed that the vibrant greens hadn't come through, so I used the glamour glow filter in Color Efex Pro to bring it back to life.

Thankyou for the wonderful comments on my big riverside sunset afterglow yesterday :)

June 19, 2013 - Yellow Jackets - I was probably close enough on this one, A little shot of insecticide would have been a better choice :-o)

Thank you for all of the kind comments on my Robber Fly, it was a fun photo to share - papa
