8/27/13 - Cape Blanco, Oregon. Everyone comes here to see the lighthouse, and, although I thought it was a lovely example of its kind, I admit I was more fascinated by the fields of giant hogweed growing everywhere in the area. At first, I thought it was water parsnip, which it closely resembles. My understanding is that giant hogweed can cause severe skin allergic reactions. Luckily, I did not touch any of it. Worth viewing in the larger sizes, I think.
Thanks for your comments on my shot of the old neon sign at the museum in Las Vegas. The museum is like a rather organized giant graveyard. You are not allowed to wander around on your own; you must stay with your tour. As a result, in spite of the abundance of wonderful old signs all around you, it is fairly difficult to get the best vantage points for photographing them. Nonetheless, I think it is worth the price of admission. As they restore the old signs, many of them are being placed around Las Vegas so that lots of people have the opportunity to see them without visiting the museum.
