03-05-2015 "Inside the Temple" Looking at the outside of the Temple some of the great cathedrals of Europe came to mind. However, after looking at the model displayed in the Visitor's Center, it is nothing like I had imagined. This is a shot of the model that shows the different rooms in the Temple. Thank you for commenting on my photos and being so supportive about my luggage! Donna
Thursday, March 5, 2015 "STAGECOACH" "Improving the stagecoach, you can create the perfect coach, but never a first-class car." ~ Edward de Bono Throwback Thursday...... I was awaken by the sounds of ice hitting the window, so I decided to post my photo for today. I peered out of the window and there is lots of snow! The weather forecaster predicted that we would get snow. If you recall, I mentioned that we got 4-5 inches of snow last Wednesday. Now, back to my "Christmas in Arizona" 2014 series....... Known as “Arizona’s country town,” Dewey-Humboldt was formed in 2004 as a merger of two neighboring communities in the Agua Fria River valley. The combination brought the rich farming culture of Dewey together with Humboldt, a mining community. "Dewey-Humboldt is a town in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The population of the town was 3,894 according to the 2010 census. The Dewey-Humboldt area was a census-designated place at the 2000 census, at which time its population was 6,295." ~ Reprinted from Wikipedia Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! September 14 What a fabulous perspective for watching a glorious Hawaiian sunset -- UNDERWATER!
April 28, 2012 "It is of interest to note that while some dolphins are reported to have learned English - up to fifty words used in correct context - no human being has been reported to have learned dolphinese." ~ Dr Carl Sagan Well obviously I didn't take this photo, but thought I'd share it with the Daily Community because it's representative of how much fun Bill and I had when we went "Swimming with the Dolphins" in the Bahamas. Meet Soca, one of the youngest Dolphins in the Blue Lagoon. She's giving me a kiss on the cheek. We had such a blast with Soca and her partner. We danced with them, they kissed us and we got to hug them. Then we literally did go swimming with them. For those who may not have ever experienced that - here's what happens: You float on your belly in the water, legs straight, toes pointed down, arms outstretched, and then the trainer gives the signal and two of the Dolphins swim up to you from behind, they put their noses on your feet and literally push you up and through the water. Talk about a thrill!!!!!!!!!!! Funny thing about Soca - I think she liked me, because as we started to swim back to the dock to get out of the water, she came up to me and put her nose on my life jacket and pushed me away from the dock. I think she was playing with me, and was trying to keep me from getting out of the water. It was lke she was trying to "herd" me back to the playground. She was very friendly, and I wasn't afraid. She made several noises, and kissed me a few more times, then she stood up on her tail for me when her trainer told her to let me get out of the water. This is is once in a lifetime experience, and it was WAY COOL!!!! Thanks so much to all of you for your wonderful comments on my beach/palm trees/lighthouse photo from yesterday! SmugMugger's ROCK!!!!!! Bill and I are headed off to our first classic car show of this year (and we are READY) in Corsicana, Texas. I'm sure I'll be posting some cool, classic car shots in the near future! Have a amazingly happy Friday today my friends! Linda
05/02/15 This home borders the park. Thanks for the concern Judy. My slippery walk was shorter today. A late addition Gods child. Not sure what this is Rick, but lots of them around and no one covers them. Must be a Canuck tree! LOL Hope yours' is ok. Thanks Judy and Arctangent, for the info. on the yew. A stand of trees nearby have long, slender cones that might be pine. I need to study my plant books.
March 5 2015 Caloosahatchee River This is the view from our friends' patio in Florida. That's their dock on the right. It's a 3 image pano done with the new Image Composite Editor from Microsoft. It's much improved and easier to use. It has an amazing autocomplete feature to fill in pixels if you don't get the individual images quite right. You should try it. Go to http://research.microsoft.com/en-us/um/redmond/projects/ice/ Thanks for all the comments on yesterday's margarita sign.
Peacock - i had to use my wide angle lens for this display.Taken on Maui. I really appreciate the comments!
March 4 - Light of the World On a local church building just above the door is this light. I particularly liked the brickwork in the background (and the rare blue sky)
