July 9, 2014 I would like you to meet Joshua Drake, he was born June 13. Back in the fall I posted about some friends who had just found out they were expecting. This little guy is a truly a miracle. I did their newborn photo session a couple weeks ago and purposely held this shot back. I had it printed on canvas and will present it to them today. It is perfect on canvas and Canvas On Demand Pro did an amazing job. The original post was called "New Beginnings" and at that time I was pretty sure it was a girl...whoops...missed that one ;-)http://brickroadphoto.smugmug.com/Photo-A-Day-Images/Photo-A-day-2013/i-qBTVTkv/A Thank you for your great comments on yesterdays two dragonfly shot. I always appreciate your comments and the time it takes to make them. Have an amazing day Jeanne

7/9/14 - This professional sand sculpture was our favorite. At this point, it is not far from complete. Check it out in the largest size. Thanks for your comments on my previous shot Sandfest. Much appreciated!
July 9, 2014 While on a drive one day I noticed this pattern mounted on the side of a barn, I wondered what it was all about but never really gave it another thought. Then a week or so later on another rural road in Carroll County I spotted another colorful pattern. After an online search I found what I was looking for. These colorful displays are actually Barn Quilts and part of the American Quilt Trail Movement. There are 12 quilts throughout my county, I will be on the lookout and photographing each and every one. (Lots of shadows this day) This Log Cabin quilt is located at: Thomas Tree Farm ~ 3501 Hanover Pike ~ Manchester, MD Below is some info from the American Quilt Trail Movement site: http://barnquiltinfo.com Barn quilts are painted quilt squares-usually fashioned on boards and then mounted on a barn or other building. While cloth quilts are usually made up of a series of squares of the same pattern placed together, a barn quilt is almost always a single square. In many communities, an organizing group-an arts council, a quilt guild, a 4-H club, or simply a motivated bunch of residents-work together to organize their barn quilts into a trail. Some are guided walks in a downtown area that includes historical buildings. More often, quilt trails take visitors on a drive through the countryside where barn quilts are mounted on farm buildings, on homes, along fences, and sometimes on freestanding posts. A quilt trail may include stops at galleries, farm stands, wineries and other points of interest that make the journey a day-long event.
 Where's the artist!

July 9, 2014 This is another of one of the great classics that was on display at the Cars in the Park car show in our hometown of Waxahachie, Texas. It's a lovely 1939 Chevrolet Coupe. The interior was beautifully done and pristine. I particularly loved the headlights. I don't know what this style of headlights are called - but they remind me of bug-eyes. I guess that's a made up name, but it works for me. " 'Cars' is simply near and dear to my heart." ~ John Lasseter Have a "Car"efree day today my friends! Still in Birmingham tonight, but enjoying your photos! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
08.07.14 - Ringlet Butterfly Struggling for inspiration the last couple of days, so many frustrations and people with bizarre priorities. I could say more, but it would turn into a long and angry rant, so here is a Ringlet butterfly on clover from the weekend instead.

July 9 - Lake Swimming Platform The early morning light and fog made the platform appear as if it was floating on air instead of water. Thanks so much for your comments on my Pelican Huddle image I posted yesterday!
July 9. I have no idea what these are or will be, but interesting growth process none the less.
