Wednesday, January 28, 2015 "CENTENNIAL BALL" (The Metamorphosis) "It's impossible to explain creativity. It's like asking a bird, 'How do you fly?' You just do." ~ Eric Jerome Dickey Great ball of fire? No, great ball of colors!! Here's another one of my artistic creations (post processed) with Topaz Labs. I have nine days left on my 30-day trial. 27.01.15 - Under Alien Skies I don't know how many other people saw them, but last week some guys at the Russian Federal Space Agency produced some beautiful images of world cities under alien skies. They imagined what the sky would look like with the other planets in the solar system orbiting Earth in place of the Moon, and if we orbited other stars, they were breathtaking images and I was determined to try something similar. Anyway, this is one of my efforts, a ringed planet rising behind Lincoln Cathedral at dawn, I hope you like it :)
Note: This is NOT a B/W conversion. It is the full color version as it came from the camera. As proof of the color that is present, here's a link to a highly saturated version of this shot: http://smu.gs/1uA9uz5 These strange button or pebble-like structures were mid-stream in the Huron River (seen from a low bridge over this branch of the river). For size perspective, the largest of the flattened rounded shapes were several inches across. DP028-2015 Posted Wednesday, January 28; processed ditto Since I was finally able to get out and take some new photographs, for the first time in more than two weeks, I decided to interrupt my mini-series of shots from my London visit. Huron River at Gallup Park, Ann Arbor Taken January 27, 2015 Title: Mysterious Ice Formation Thanks so much for all the kind words about yesterday's post of the morning mist in Green Park. Your comments are all very much appreciated.
January 28, 2015 These yokes were on a wall that stored some of the working implements at La Hacienda del los Martinez in Taos, New Mexico. According to Wikipedia: "Martinez Hacienda, also known as Hacienda de los Martinez, is a Taos, New Mexico hacienda built during the Spanish colonial era. It is now a living museum listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located on the bank of the Rio Pueblo de Taos. Don Antonio Severino Martinez, also known as Severino Martinez, bought the property about 2 miles southwest of the Taos Plaza in 1804,[3] after relocating his family from Abiquiu to Taos that year. At first the building was a four room dwelling and then it grew as Martinez became more successful. It was made of thick adobe walls, without exterior windows. The hacienda had 2 inner courtyards, or placitas, around which a total of 21 rooms were built. It was constructed as a fortress for protection against attacks by Plains tribes, such as Comanche and Apache raiders. When there was a threat of violence, the livestock were brought into the courtyards of the hacienda for safety." It is a wonderful living museum to visit if you find yourself in Taos. You won't be disappointed. Have a fantastic day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com
Jan 28 - Steps I love the patterns in this staircase taken in a parking garage as well as the texture mixes of the steel and concrete. Thank you for your comments on my Whitetail Deer European Mount image I posted yesterday.

Hibiscus looking out from the shade.... It's so gloomy and wintery here, I went in search of a flower photo to play with - added a touch of Glow to the bloom. 01.28.15
Jan.28. The squirrels find any morsels of food in the snow.
January 28, 2015 These stone carving decorate the building across the street from the National Museum of Natural History in Washington DC. I wish I had paid more attention to the building. On a map we can’t tell if it is the IRS or The National Archives.
1/28/15 - Sandbur-like winter seedheads; the light was nice. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the white gumball machine. I'd never seen a whole machiine full of white gumballs before either.
Badger - Snake River Birds or Prey area. Back lit and very underexposed. As usual I wish the sun had been on the other side.
