day 108: "the hills have eyes—south jersey". we drove to canton, nj to visit my brother and he took us on a quick tour down an isolated marsh-surrounded road. i loved the area as there are no wires or telephone polls. just a nuke cooling tower in the background... and a strange shack in the middle of the marsh... and NO cell reception... and, uh, it was kinda freaky actually. i hopped out of the van and ran half way up the planked entrance to take this shot ignoring the "no trespassing" sign and the full-on assault of green head flies. in mid-shot my brother beeped the horn and drove away leaving me. funny guy. he drove back. i may be heading back here to sneak closer next time. curiosity has me cranked to check out the shack.

Sunday, December 30, 2012 "LIGHTS AND REFLECTIONS" "How much you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain. And so it is with life, which, for many of us becomes one big gigantic test followed by one big gigantic lesson. In the end, it all comes down to one word.....grace. It's how you accept winning and losing, good luck and bad luck, the darkness and the light." ~ Philosophy SOOC, other than the frames, which were created with Picnik.......unfortunately, the picnik is over. As announced earlier, Picnik closed on April 19, 2012. Happy Valentine's Day!!!! POTD February 14, 2011 - Best viewed in X2 This classic Ford truck is really red, but I was experimenting with PP - just playing around really. But I kind of liked this effect. I particularly liked the reflections of the Mustang in the side, the grass in the wheels and the understated color of this beauty. Best viewed in x large to see the fine detail. Here's the 'original' shot straight out of the camera: http://lgood.smugmug.com/gallery/12442807_L6QVo/#1187288707_Bu2oA Thanks for all you kind comments this week. Have a good one!!!! Best regards., Linda

1-11: Saturday morning we drove up Highways 7 and did some hiking in Wild Basin. This is "Chapel on the Rock" built in 1935, part of Saint Malo Catholic Retreat off of Highway 7. I think it's a neat looking old chapel and it resides in a very beautiful setting. Behind is Mt. Meeker. As you can see, it was another very windy morning up in the mountains. A lot of snow was blowing off the mountain peaks.
2-12: Back after being very sick for almost a week. Wednesday morning I finally felt good enough to get up and take some pictures. This was taken a few minutes before sunrise on the Collindale golf course.
Nana, a very cute puppy - Jan 24 2009 Today my Caroline had to do her license test agility with Blue (which they passed easily), time to see our agility friend again and some new puppies. This little gal stole my heart instantly, good job she's already taken ;-) So I have to settle with some pictures of her.
Cabin-0461 This is what home looked like early Monday morning. The trees, especially the two corkscrew-willows, were simply amazing with all the wet snow clinging to them. Since I don't see it very often, one thing I had forgotten about snow is it's tough to shoot! The light was only favorable for a short time and the wind was enough to ruin a lot of the more graceful scenes early on, but it certainly was a pleasant change from all the dead winter vegetation. But all that's over now - Bring on Spring!
12-03: I took this Monday evening at next to a pond near the Environmental Learning Center. We've been having some awesome sunsets here lately. I think this one looks kind of like a painted sky! Unfortunately, it's a little soft because this was handheld and the VR switch on my lens was switched to off. That VR really does work!
