July 4th, 2015 I had to take a quick shot of this house in Hanover, PA, they were all decked out for the 4th of July.
Happy 4th of July! “Government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” –Abraham Lincoln, Gettysburg Address, November 19, 1863 America the Beautiful O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed His grace on thee, And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! If you have a few minutes, you can hear the complete song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsbEkQBYZPQ Godliness makes a nation great, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverb 14:34 NLT Please pray for America and her leaders... Have a happy and safe 4th! Thank you for your views, comments and critiques, much appreciated! Independence Day July 4, 2015
Just for the 4th of July I save this shot. I took this a month ago when I toured Ft Wool and Loved the shot and though of the 4ht. This is a huge 200' flag hanging from the pole on Ft Wool. We were luck that the wind came up as we were leaving and the flag blew out. Happy 4th Folks!!
July 4. Independence Day! All about the Red White and Blue!
03.07.15 - Emergency Call You can plan for some things, others come completely out of the blue, but you can still be ready for them just in case! This was on my guided photo walk last night. We'd been on the South Common, effectively a large park on the edge of town where you get great views across the city, hoping for some big sunset shots. It looked promising for a while, but nothing developed in the end. So then we took a short walk into town to play around with light trails in the halflight. I was just explaining how buses and emergency vehicles gave better trails than cars, and that you could use flat topped railings and walls if you didn't want to carry a tripod around with you. Then we heard a siren in the distance. I'd already set my camera to a 5 second shutter speed, the longest possible with so much light still around, luckily there was a low wall next to me with a nice flat top. I just got the camera down in time, didn't have chance to check the viewfinder and compose it, just angled it up the street and pressed the shutter. I had to crop off some dead space at the bottom, but it came out pretty good for an impromptu grab. The moral of the story is know how much light there is and have the camera settings ready, just in case a speeding ambulance or bus appears from nowhere, and keep an eye out for flat surfaces to use as a tripod.
07-04-2015' "Happy 4th of July" God Bless America! Thank you for commenting on my photos. Donna
Aggstein Castle on the Danube Built in the 12th century,it has been destroyed and rebuilt at least twice. It was infamous as the home of various robber barons, who taxed (i.e. stole from) ships on the Danube. As a young man I hiked up from the Danube. Now you can drive up - which over 50,000 people do annually. Beautiful views from up there.
07.04.15 I was weeding thru old files and found this previously unprocessed image of EL Jay circa June 2011. Have a happy 4th of July.

July 3, 21015 This is a shot taken during the family outing to ride the historic Texas State Railroad steam train from Palestine to Rusk, Texas and back again. About 1/2 way along the route, we passed another of the historic trains making the same trek. I almost forgot about the final Friday of Judy's lexicon challenge, but I was at a bit of a loss for a photo to post, so here's a couple of "sort of" lexicons for the word train: Caravan, Convoy, Concatenation (as in a connection or a chain) and consecution (arrangement, order, procession, series). Thank you for your comments and critiques! Have a fantastic day today friends, and I'm hoping you are looking forward to all the Independence Day celebrations this weekend. Saltation Jul 3 Lexicon challenge entry: saltation- abrupt movement or transition.
June 24, 2015 This is a close up of a latch on one of the cases made by Bill's company Americase. I particularly liked the reflections of the colors from the clothing that the people standing nearby created in the Aluminum case and stainless steel latch. Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a colorful day today my friends! Linda http://www.lgood.smugmug.com
"Romantic" bridge Also part of the Laxenburg park (previous two POTD), this bridge is also only about 180 years old - built to look pleasing in the landscape. The style is more Gothic than Romantic, but you get my point. Thanks for ranking yesterday's "Dark and Stormy" shot under the top ten.
