Thursday, April 17, 2014 "CYPRESS PRESERVE" "The art of progress is to preserve order amid change and to preserve change amid order." ~ Alfred North Whitehead SOOC, uncropped, flash fired, photographed at 5:56 p.m. (Central Time Zone) Thanks for your comments on my "Sassy and Azaleas" photo yesterday; it was a pleasure to share the #3 spot with Susanne (aka DreamCatcherPhotography) - we each had 23 comments at the end of the day on our photos. Congrats to Harsh (aka Hershey) whose image was a well-deserved #1 and Judy (aka fotoeffects), whose image was #2. "Popular among photographers, birders, and joggers, this site's three ancient groves of cypress don't mind a little extra water. Growing from a long, narrow slough, or wetland depression, these cypress brakes enjoy wet feet. Purchased in 1940, the garden club continues to improve the site with new boardwalks, an outdoor classroom pavilion, walking trails, and informative signs. Here among this 16 acre tract in the city, it's no surprise to see deer, turkeys and alligators in their natural habitat." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://www.scenicusa.net/050712.html Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! Pannonian Mood This too is Austria. "Pannonia" is a loosely defined term (based on a Roman provincial name) that defines parts of eastern Austria and western Hungary. As the name implies, it is flat. The land, with several small lakes and one big one, is home to a national park, lots of vineyards, and other agriculture. It is warmer and dryer than the rest of Austria.
