9/3/15 - View of Bar Harbor from Cadillac Mountain. I liked the contrast provided by the white cruise ship in the harbor. We were amazed at how many of these little islands dot the coast of Maine. Cadillac Mountain in Acadia National Park, at 1,530 feet (466 meters), is the highest point along the North Atlantic seaboard and the first place to view sunrise in the United States from October 7 through March 6. It is one of over 20 mountains on Mount Desert Island (MDI), Maine that were pushed up by earth's tectonic and volcanic forces millions of years ago. Were it not for the once enormous glaciers that sheared off their tops, they would be even higher than what we see today. You can easily see the results of this on a smaller scale by viewing the slopes on the Porcupine Islands in the distance. The North side is on the left and the steeper slope, or the down side, is on the right east side. The glaciers crept across the land here from the left to the right (in a southerly direction) and stretched out to sea as far as 400 miles (644 kilometers)! I appreciated your comments on my shot of the carrots at the farm stand. Thanks!
02.09.15 - Water? Believe it or not this is a water reservoir. The tower and grassy mound cover a 6 million gallon reservoir, created in the early 20th century to supply the city with safe water after a typhoid epidemic killed 131 people. The main water tower is near the cathedral in the old part of Lincoln on the northern hill, this is Bracebridge heath on the opposite southern hill close to where I live. I can't believe this is the first time the old reservoir and tower have featured as a Daily

Day 245: NYC Heat Wave Blues. - Sept 2. Early this morning, the smog and heat in the air created this almost completely blue and white view of the New York Skyline. Hot, hot, hot and so humid today.
Headache #59 Oh My Gosh, I love my kids but I need a break!!!
Day 246: NYC Steamy Sunrise. - Sept 3. Even at sunrise, it was hot and steamy and uncomfortable here to start the day and will only worsen as the day goes on. On A/C in my building for the past few days and no projection as to when it might be fixed. Technicians are working on it. Feel sorry for the children going back to school where there is no A/C in the parts of the country having this hear wave. .
Maddie, this is my son's dog. She is full of energy and has a really funny personality.
