Nini’s Glamour, Nacogdoches TX

This is the final product from Nini’s modern beauty makeover shoot on the day she got the call from Montana State. Yes, we celebrate good news with a photoshoot! I shared the before and after version a couple of days ago, and mentioned that I would use it to market this style of shoot. But what should I call this shoot? Sue Bryce calls this style “glamour.” But she’s from New Zealand and maybe hasn’t noticed how bad of a name “glamour shots” have in the US. So if not a glamour portrait, what would you call it? I’ve been calling it “modern beauty makeover,” but I’d love to hear other suggestions.

This photo was shot with only natural light and I did the retouching in Photoshop using Sue’s two minute rule. But of course the retouching actually took me 10 minutes instead of two. I’ll get my time down eventually!

I've shot two weddings in the last two days! I'm wiped!

Critiques are always welcome.

Baby giraffe, Ngala, South Africa

This is a very young giraffe, and you can see that the umbilical cord is still attached. His little neck looks pretty short for a giraffe, too.

For another view of the baby giraffe and for some nice lion pics, see here: http://goo.gl/0rWcF

Baling Hay - This old Ford tractor doesn't do the actual baling, it is just one in the process. It takes about four diferent implements to bale hay, so you've got to have a different tractor for each implement! This one turns the cut hay, in this case alalfa. It's all a matter of timing and to get good hay, everything has to be done at the right time and pray it doesn't rain. Farmers are the salt of the earth, ♥
Everyone wants the shot.

5/19/13 - I've gotten very few shots of tulips this year...just haven't seen many! I decided I liked the b/w version of these lavender/pink ones. What do you think?

Thanks for all your comments on my first long exposure in Zion. Someone asked about the lavender tones. Don't know why it was that way; that is just how it turned out. It may be that the red canyon walls which were quite steep on both sides gave the water a slight piinkish cast.
