12-26: Another from the golf course on Wednesday morning. There was a heavy frost on the trees which, in this shot, was helping to pick up a glow from the sun.
12-21: This is another from the foggy morning at the Collindale golf course. The fog was freezing on some of the trees branches and needles

2-23: I woke up at 5:30 Sunday morning thinking about work and a task I'm supposed to finish soon so I decided to go to work for a while. I know it sounds really sad but it did give me an opportunity to take some pictures! This was taken near the Arapaho Bend natural area just down the hill from HP. I like the morning light on the grass
Monday, July 21, 2008 (day 52) Went to Eastern State Penitentiary with friends who can't join the SmugMug group on August 13th. Plus, I filled out a survey on the way out and I have 4 free passes for the SmugMug group! It was soooo hot and humid. It was fun to shot there, I think (hope) I learned alot from my mistakes, don't you just love digital!!!
April 28 Yes....I missed uploading a DP for yesterday! By the time we finished that 24 hrs. of frivilous fun in the desert area near Ridgecrest (California), I was too tired to tend to my DP; I'm admitting it!! Had another outstanding day today; ending our trip by arriving in our own little hometown at sunset! This is what we were watching while driving the last couple of miles down the highway! SPECTACULAR!! What a "welcome home"! Took the first available offramp in order to catch this shot!! (Tough choice, though! This was right after a double rainbow which we also pulled over for!!) We did spend some discussion as to how difficult it was going to be to choose a DP for yesterday, and today!! Over the next several days, I will be using shots from this trip as DP's, as I add photos to the gallery.
11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann
10-30-08 Natural lenses A tiny spider web and a misty morning give so many lenses ! Hard to keep every drop sharp and to focus on the picture given through the drops ! This one came out good enough among many other shots. Can you see what was behind ? ^^
2-02: This is another from Saturday's sunset. Several people have asked if the colors are real (natural) in yesterday's. It was taken as three bracketed exposures but only at -1, 0 and 1. Then combined in Photomatix. Then final processing in Capture NX2 (mostly brightness and focus adjustments) I didn't change any colors. I did actually have to desaturate a little because the orange and reds tend to be over saturated sometimes. I used the same processing on today's post. This one was actually taken a few minutes before the one I posted yesterday, so the clouds are more orange than red or pink
Boats on the Velikaya River bank. (6.11.2011) Sorry I didn't have time to comment yesterday. Hope everyone has a relaxing weekend.
Gorgeous sunrise yesterday!!! The water was so still and the sky had such unique color. I shot all around the harbor for over 2 hours! Unlike today, where I overslept and missed the whole thing! Plymouth Harbor, Ma
3/19/13 - Old locomotive at Old Town Tucson. Thanks so muich for your warm response, making my shot of the Presidio arches the #1 shot for the day. A few more of you preferred the color version, but quite a few thought the b/w version was better. Thanks for sharing your opinions with me!
18.02.10 - Blowin' in the Wind When I went out this evening it was just starting to snow, but it never got beyond the sleety stage. After the last 2 nights in town and round the Uni, I decided to cut my losses and go back to the Cathedral, which is a lot nearer anyway. This is along the south side, and is hopefully a new view for most of you. It was very difficult conditions for photography, the wind swirling in every direction, driving the sleet into every nook and cranny. I like the way the floodlights catch the sleet, and the car lights reflecting in the wet cobbles add something too.
