This sandhill crane had just taken over duties on the nest from its partner. It inspected the eggs, but didn't seem to turn them completely. It then turned, fluffed, settled, rose up, and repeated the process several times before finding a position over the eggs it felt comfortable with. Not more than fifty feet away, a mute swan sat on its own nest in this same small side arm of Wildwing Lake. DP116-2015 Posted Sunday, April 26. Seeing this was a special thrill for me, since I had never seen a sandhill crane nest, much less observed the nesting pair switch duties, thus exposing the eggs to full view. Taken April 24, 2015 at Wildwing Lake, Kensington Metro Park, Michigan Title: Precious Charge. Heavy Responsibility. Sandhill Crane on Its Nest.

Update: Since I will be working on some other projects I expect to be away until next weekend. Sunset - long exposure with 10 stop ND filter. In some cases I like the normal exposure shot as well so I may post that version later. Taken near Olympia, Wa. I really appreciate the comments.

April 26, 2015 This new backdrop for the tradeshow booths for husband Bill's company features the new "logo" and it shows the evolution of his manufacturing company from purely a gun case manufacturer to a company that supplies cases to many other industries today. I like the new logo, and Bill does too. It was designed by Bill, his son and their Graphics department. Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a fabulous day today my friends! Sunday, April 26, 2015 "THE SWEET LIFE" (The Metamorphosis) "Life is like jelly beans, and sometimes you get your favorite color." ~ Author Unknown It's been a minute since I've posted one of my "artistic creations." This was post processed with another program in Topaz Labs other than Topaz Glow. I don't have anymore photos "in the can" that were metamorphosized with Topaz Glow; I've posted them all. It's a good thing that I get bored easily, because I am enjoying experimenting with new filters other than TG. Why? "Variety is the spice of life," of course. 41 flavors of gourmet jelly beans by Gimbal's.....and the best ones I've ever tasted! They are perfect for people with allergies, as they are: Peanut free ~ Tree Nut Free ~ Dairy Free ~ Glutten Free ~ Soy Free ~ Egg Free. April 26, 2015 Baltimore streets pre Freddie Gray riots. BALTIMORE (WJZ) –Protests turned violent in Baltimore Saturday as some stores were looted, cars damaged and police in riot gear tried to break up the more violent groups of demonstrators. The protest began Saturday afternoon when several hundred demonstrators marched through the streets of West Baltimore. The crowd initially gathered at Presbury and N. Mount streets — the site of 25-year-old Freddie Gray’s arrest. Then, hundreds of protestors marched toward City Hall, making stops at Camden Yards and the Inner Harbor Although the protests were peaceful for much of the morning, they took a violent turn around 6 p.m. Baltimore City police donned riot gear and trying to move people out of the area, concerned for the safety of residents and for the Orioles fans at Camden Yards.
