September 4, 2015 While we were in Skagway, we stopped for lunch a a neat place that had a lovely garden, glass blowing facility and gift shop. The Gardens were amazing, and I suppose they were so lush primarily due to the 20 hours of light each day and the rich soil. This centerpiece in the garden was created on site by the artists. There were many glass attractions throughout the garden to enjoy. Thank you for your comments and critiques. "People are like stained - glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within." ~ Elisabeth Kubler-Ross Have a day full of wholesome light and love. 9/4/15 - The Audobon Puffin Project is reestabllishing puffins in Maine on various islands, including Egg Island. Notice the volunteer researcher who is being mobbed by the birds. The puffins nest in crevasses and little caves in the rocks. Note the silhouette of another researcher in the blind. You can see the blinds are held down by ropes. And you can see the solar panels near one of the blinds. The shot was made from a moving boat offshore a ways. Thanks to those who commented on my shot of the islands off the coast of Maine.
September 4, 2015 I've been trying to learn a few new programs…and using old cameras including a companion point and shoot while my camera is in the shop. Tuns out I have a broken spring in the card reader slot So the card won’t click into place, $200-$250 is the estimate, YIKES! With all that being said, this photo was taken with my point and shoot and processed in tonality. If you look to the left of the house you can see multiple rings. What they are and how they got there is beyond me, anyone know??
Last carnival of summer. This little girl was so full of joy as she went on all the rides by herself. Her Dad stood nearby and patiently watched. Very very hot. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year for our area! Whew! Sept. 4/15
Fishing. Believe it or not that's exactly what he's doing.
03.09.15 - Flatlands Out in the Lincolnshire fields yesterday under dramatic skies. Most of the harvest is in now, and some fields like this one have even been planted with winter wheat for next year.
Day 247: Abstract - Pipe Dreams. - Sept 4. A little photo play after being inside all day with contractors replacing pipes behind two of my walls and those of my neighbor across the hall. No chance to get outside so took a couple photos of the shiny new copper piping. Tues. the crew will be back to insulate the pipes and hopefully close the walls back up. This is part of a large-scale project to replace the pipe lines in all apartments on all floors. I must say the crews doing the work are doing a great job - on schedule, careful, considerate and clean up before they leave.
Day 246: NYC Steamy Sunrise. - Sept 3. Even at sunrise, it was hot and steamy and uncomfortable here to start the day and will only worsen as the day goes on. On A/C in my building for the past few days and no projection as to when it might be fixed. Technicians are working on it. Feel sorry for the children going back to school where there is no A/C in the parts of the country having this hear wave. .
9/5/15 - Acadia National Park, Maine...at the Thunderhole; note the gull with the shrimp (really only shows up when you view the original size shot). Thanks everyone who commented on my shot of the volunteer at the Puffin Project. Yes, they are the funny little birds that look a lot like penquins. Most people think they are much larger birds, but they are quite small.
This road runs east of Sierra Nevada and 5 km south of Mono Lake. Kresten Refslund
