April 1, 2015 I totally fell in love with the iron insert on this large wooden gate in St. Michaels.
Loving the little hummers!
31.03.15 - Cute Overload The first babies of the year, spotted by Brayford Pool yesterday as I was passing through the university campus on my way to a meeting. These are greylag geese, and apparently they are 2-3 days old. You can be sure that I'll be following their progress over the next few weeks :)

An alternate view of the 1952 Jaguar C-Type from Monday.
Unknown Hilltop This is a shot scanned from a 35mm slide. I have no idea where or when - probably in the 1970s and most likely somewhere in Lower Austria when I was out with a hiking group. The scanned image has been cleaned up.
Spring April 1 Some spring offerings from my Bradford pear tree.
04.01.15 Where did March go? Jeddy doing what he loves. Music. Utah has not been kind to him and he is so ready to move on with his life. Last week I drove by this 58 Desoto and knew I had to return with Jeddy for a farewell photo shoot. I am struggling to do a weekly themed photo challenge. I haven't missed posting an image yet this year, but I have felt so uninspired. This week the theme is {MUSE}.... This image is perfect. Here is the caption I submitted with it. After I became homeless a year ago and had to move to Utah to live in my dad's house and after my dad at age 82 ran off and eloped with a girl he dated in high school and I was left battling cancer alone and caring for my 11-year old son and a 54-year old (paranoid schizophrenic) brother.... Jeddy put his own life on hold to move from Albuquerque to Ogden to care for me and his younger brother. This has not been an easy time for any of us and I am in the middle of moving into another temporary living situation with friends and Jeddy and his fiance are gladly returning to New Mexico. He asked me to take this farewell photo to post on his music page--https://www.facebook.com/jeddysmusic?fref=ts Jeddy is my inspiration for living. He is my muse. He is very loved and will be greatly missed. Thank you, Son, for all you do to make my life more liveable.
SOMETIMES ,,,,,you have to post a shot just because you like it, and that is what happened here. Nice weather today , with sunny periods , and this is on my walk. It is down near the railway tracks behind a mall and I like the browns with just a hint of Spring trying to get through. April 1, 2015
Like a great wall, the vertical cliffs that mark the Tapeats Sandstone cap, ~500 million years old, atop the Precambrian Vishnu Schist (~1.5 billion years old) run like a ribbon through this scene, starting at the left center. A combination of severe tilting of the older layers and erosion of the intervening strata have either buried or stripped away 1 billion years of geologic record. Such unconformities (gaps in the rock record) occur in many other places around the world. The one on display in the Grand Canyon is one of the more spectacular examples, earning it the name 'Great Unconformity', awarded to it by John Wesley Powell in the 19th century. Strictly speaking (according to Wikipedia), the juxtaposition of the Tapeats sandstone directly atop the Vishnu schist is a nonconformity, rather than an unconformity. DP091-2015 Posted Wednesday, April 1 Looking downstream (south and west) from a point a few miles downstream from the confluence of the Little Colorado River with the Colorado River. The massive wall of dark stone on the left (south) bank is Vishnu schist, the only metamorphic layer exposed in the canyon, and also the oldest. If you're a geology nut like myself, read more about the phenomenon online, certainly, and in books (what a concept!). Title: The Great Unconformity - One Billion Years of Rock Gone Missing Taken March 29, 2008, during a scenic flight over the Grand Canyon.
