Tragedy Apr 28 We had windy days a few days ago and this little nest lost its grip in the tree. It was placed back in the tree but sadly the owners never returned.
Wednesday, October 2, 2013 "FOUNTAINS OF BELLAGIO" "The knowledge of man is as the waters, some descending from above, and some springing from beneath; the one informed by the light of nature, the other inspired by divine revelation." ~ Francis Bacon SOOC, uncropped, handheld (no tripod); 35mm lens There's always one......DycasStudios requested to see the camera settings. While there, we decided to drive to Las Vegas. Although I was first and last in Las Vegas in June (2006) with my best friend, it was my hubby's first trip to Vegas. Upon our arrival, we parked in the Bellagio's parking garage and headed straight for the water show that was just about to start. This is one of the first photos that I took. A refreshing addition to entertainment options, the Fountains of Bellagio were destined to romance the senses during the day and night. We viewed this thoughtfully interwoven complimentary Las Vegas show of water, music, and light. Each dynamic performance is unique in its expression and interpretation. It is truly the most amusing, amazing, ambitious, choreographically complex water feature ever conceived against the beautiful backdrop of Las Vegas's sky. I fell in love all over again with the stunning nature of this aquatic accomplishment while listening to a clever concert of opera, classical, and Broadway tunes. Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (The Metamorphosis) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Author Unknown Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. April 28, 2015 Well most of you know that Fremont Street in Las Vegas is loaded with awesome neon signs from the old Vegas. This particular sign is one of my favorites because it changes colors and the outlines are not always the same. I've taken many photos of this sign, but I think this version is my favorite! "Las Vegas is a 24-hour city. It never stops." ~ Eli Roth Have a great day today my friends! Linda http;//www.lgood.smugmug.com
04-28-2015 "Reflections and Bubbles" As I walked around my yard looking at all the spring growth, I saw the bubbles and reflections in my upper pond. If it would stop raining, I could sit out there and enjoy this water feature. Thank you so very much for commenting on my photos. Donna
Egyptian goose... The Egyptian goose is a member of the duck, goose, and swan family Anatidae. It is native to Africa south of the Sahara and the Nile Valley. Egyptian geese were considered sacred by the Ancient Egyptians, and appeared in much of their artwork. 24.12.09 - Christmas Eve Fog was the order of the day today. We've had a slight thaw, but tonight it is back below freezing again. I had a wonderful photo walk round the Cathedral this evening. The combination of fog, floodlights and the golden limestone was magical as always. This will be a very familiar view to most of you by now, but each time I stand here I see something different. By the morning I'll have a whole gallery up so you can share tonight's walk with me.
Best friends Marlice and her cheetah at sunset, Na'ankuse, Namibia. Cheetah are the most 'tameable' of the big cats when raised from a very young age, as this one was, but they are still wild animals. Marlice and her colleagues at the Na'ankuse Foundation have the skills and the proper facilities to take good care of the cheetahs and to rehabilitate them for release into the wild. (They have the loudest, most fantastic purr I have ever heard!!)
No tourists, and the locals are sitting indoor around the fireplace,
