Hell's Canyon Fall Reflection. I am just over the Oregon border driving in Idaho.
12/21/14 - Another of the ice shots. I also like the way the algae in this one has been captured. Thanks for your comments on my previous shot of the ice. Much appreciated. I'm surely enjoying all the interesting ways our smugmuggers in the community are capturing the holiday season. I'm really enjoying getting to see the displays from the different parts of the country, as well as your personal displays and, of course, the antics of the ELVES!
December 21, 2014 This is an older photo that was from a series of photos I took of this lovely creature on some wild flowers, but I'd not posted this particular one before, a similar one - but not exactly. So I thought I would share it as a rememberance of Spring and warmer weather. "Know thyself. A maxim as pernicious as it is ugly. Whoever studies himself arrests his own development. A caterpillar who seeks to know himself would never become a butterfly." ~ Andre Gide Thank you for your comments and critiques. Have a Beautiful day today my friends! Both the species of the anthurium (the bloom with the deep red bract or spathe and yellow spadix), and the genus and species of the variegated foliage plant are unknown to me. The anthurium was one of perhaps half a dozen different varieties that were in bloom in the conservatory (out of the approximately 1000 species now known to exist!). DP355-2014 Posted Sunday, December 21 (Winter Solstice); processed ditto It's a pity the shiny plant parts had to be disfigured by residue from liquids that are used to water or feed the plants. Taken at Hidden Lake Gardens, Tropical Dome of the Conservatory. December 20, 2014 Title: Red and Green Natural Scene - Anthurium and Foliage - IN10949 Thanks for all the kind comments to yesterday's Christmas-themed post. Comments and critiques are always welcome.
VOILA! my postcard from our first sunny day in a long time! woohoo 21/12/14
One of the most beautiful sunsets that I have ever seen!! I went over to my cousins house and his deck was the perfect spot to watch this beautiful sunset.
11-03-2012. Dogs Day Out. Found them enjoying the excitement of the pumpkin festival. Thank you for yesterday's comments.
Shelby has a playdate…. with her cousin, Ruby. Yes, they are playing & it went on for hours. Although Shelby looks like the tough guy here, Ruby, (the bulldog) who is only 8 months old, can certainly shell out her fair share of rough play! 12.20.14 edit: Sorry I deleted comments by God's Child & Archtangent, but I had to repost this pic as it didn't show up in the DP gallery.... sorry guys, and thanks so much for leaving your comments.
Sunday, December 21, 2014 "ST. PETER AME CHURCH" "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." ~ Matthew 16:18 (The Bible, KJV) 3:56 PM Update: Thank you to whomever "thumbed up" my March 27, 2012 post of "HUMPTY DUMPTY" by Kimber Fiebiger, causing it to reappear in the DPC today. A professionally appropriate comment is welcome, so that I can properly thank you. First day of winter..........and Christmas is 4 days away! Darn, those wires - but oh, well; I didn't feel like cloning them out. So, it is what it is. St. Peter's AME Church, in the heart of Port Gibson's main thoroughfare, has been in existence for more than one-hundred twenty-five years. Many of the outstanding pastors of African Methodism has served this historic congregation. According to the website below, "we have a holistic ministry that is designed to meet your every spiritual need. We are part of the Natchez-Port Gibson District of the Mississippi (South) Conference of the African Methodist Episcopal Church." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://netministries.org/frames.asp?ch=ch13220&st=MS&name=Historic%20St.%20Peter's%20AME%20Church&city=Port%20Gibson Church, anyone? Be it ever so humble... There's no place like home for the holidays (in this case, Vienna), especially with a few lights, a reflecting pond, and a mulled wine stand or two.
December 21, 2014 Let the Sea…Set you Free.

While shooting a local school's holiday concert I notice this young lady looking up from the main seating area. I couldn't resist.
