Tuesday, September 16, 2014 "UNTITLED - The Concave Dish" by Anish Kapoor (2010) "A mirror reflects a man's face, but what he is really like is shown by the kind of friends he chooses." ~ General Colin Luther Powell The "Dream Cars" were the stars, but there were some awesome art pieces, too. This one was my favorite in the permanent collection. The colors reflected are from the clothes my hubby and I were wearing, as well as those of others who were standing in close proximity. Amazing! "In his remarkable body of work Turner Prize-winning artist "Anish Kapoor has combined art and science into a layered, multi-sensory experience for his audience. He employs a familiar form in Untitled—the concave dish—in order to create the uncanny sense of limitlessness through the myriad fractured reflections of the viewer in its surface and the astonishing acoustic effects that its concave form produces. The surface’s triangular patterning is a result of Kapoor’s interest in fractals, wherein multiples are equivalent to the whole. Kapoor’s work invites discovery and provides an endlessly engaging experience for its audience." 2015 Calendar - Not yet complete I've reached May. I need to finish it in the next two weeks so that it will be ready to sell in time for Advent. This year's theme is "Transitions - Bridges and Stairways in Vienna". The entire design is mine: A4 wall calendar with a spiral binding, Austrian and US holidays. P.S. Critiques particularly welcome.
15.09.14 - The Little Fella It has been a while since I posted a shot of Mr Willis, but he hasn't changed. This is from our late afternoon walk yesterday, across the fields in beautiful light. We were out a lot longer than planned because I ended up picking a few pounds of damsons for a jam making session later today. While I was distracted by the fruit Willis found things to roll in, but the moment he saw the camera he put on his innocent act of course!

House Fire: They call me "Scoop Murray" at my office and this is the reason why... I seem to be at the right place at the right time - every time something happens. I've been witness to train vs car accidents, car jacking (last month), rescues at sea, various house fires...you name it. It's uncanny. Yesterday was no exception. An electrical fire broke out at a house down the street from me. I couldn't seen flames but some smoke was briefly visible. I arrived just as the FD started their attack on the fire. They knocked the fire down with amazing speed and saved the house. Thank you Saugus FD! 09/16/2014

Day 256: Tri-colored Mums - Sept 16. Love these prettypastel mums when I saw them - so delicate looking compared to the bold, bright oranges, yellows and other fall colors.

June 17, 2014 While mowing the lawns yesterday this beautiful butterfly kept fluttering around my head THEN I had a Dragonfly land on the brim of my hat. They were taunting me to come and play and it was killing me! SO I finally jumped off the mower, ran in and grabbed my camera. The butterfly came through for me, the dragonfly did not. Thank you for your comments on yesterday's walkway. They had just completed it when we were there. The bayou had been drained for construction. We didn't see or hear one animal, bug or critter with the exception of a few flying things. I hope that once the water has been reintroduced the critters will return and flourish. I must agree with Elizabeth (arctangent) that this is the perfect way to walk through and enjoy a bayou or any wetlands area. Especially one that has Texas sized snakes, alligators and many other things that hurt when they bite! Have a happy Thursday! Jeanne
September 2, 2014 Can't go wrong with a little rust especially when there are bricks involved. ;-) Thank you for your comments on the lake photo yesterday, they were and always are much appreciated. Busy day filming with CPS adoption services again. I will comment when I can Jeanne
