19.08.14 - Mixed Emotions Some days we have little to choose from when picking an image for the Dailies, other days we are spoilt for choice. The last few days have definitely been a struggle to choose from hundreds of very varied images from the Tell Them of Us shoots, I could easily have done a collage every day! Yesterday I finally caught up, today we shoot a series of scenes, including Christmas Eve 1918.
Wednesday, August 20, 2014 "TRUE COLORS" In the following ever so true quote, "men" refers to mankind, which includes women........"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power." ~ Abraham Lincoln (16th President of the United States of America (USA) SOOC, uncropped; 35mm lens; flash didn't fire Does anyone remember the song "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper? When I titled this post, that song immediately reverberated in my mind. Just like people, these colorful mixture of "Profusion Zinnias" are showing their "true colors." Power will certainly expose a person's true colors. It was a beautiful (but hot) day and the sun was shining heavily upon these blooms. The colors were really this vivid - the camera took what it saw. Has anyone noticed the brown leaf playing peek-a-boo? I spotted them on my way into the casino to eat at Heritage restaurant (buffet) - and not to gamble, thank you! Someone had suggested eating there. The food was delicious; and the service was attentive, but not intrusive. Have a "colorific" day! Greenery in late sunshine! This stand of cat tails , teasel and wild blooms are growing beside the roadway and a deep ditch of water . I loved seeing them in a city full of coffee shops, fast food places, and gas stations , all of which are across the street. 20/08/2014
Douglas C-47 Skytrain... The Douglas C-47 Skytrain or Dakota (RAF designation) is a military transport aircraft developed from the civilian Douglas DC-3 airliner. It was used extensively by the Allies during World War II and remained in front line service with various military operators through the 1950s. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_C-47_Skytrain Planes of Fame Air Show, May 3-4, 2014 Chino Airport Chino, CA http://planesoffame.org/ This winds up my series of the Chino Airshow. Day 229: Hoboken NJ Street Art - August 19. This is a small segment of a wall mural created in 2005 as a joint effort by the Hoboken community to celebrate the 50th year anniversary of the city. Students submitted artwork depicting their views of the highlights of the city and two women artists/teachers merged them into an overall mural design that was painted and funded by volunteers. When time allows I will post more images of the delightful, creative artwork on the wall.
Pirate Day at Ft. Mifflin - I anticipated catching this with fire and smoke coming from the gun but . . . it misfired.
Gorgeous sunrise yesterday!!! The water was so still and the sky had such unique color. I shot all around the harbor for over 2 hours! Unlike today, where I overslept and missed the whole thing! Plymouth Harbor, Ma
050211 Tree in Shohola Falls Long week last week with the shutter failing on my Nikon D50 and computer problems at work. Took a drive to Delaware Water Gap over the weekend to get away. Trying to adjust to my D60 but I liked my older camera.
The Journey begins... Please accept my apologies if I do not get to your shot right aways. Please let me explain. Taking care of my mom is virtually like taking care of a toddler. She can only take a few steps and she has to have diapers. I giver her meds to her, I get her up and in the wheelchair to take her to the dinning room to eat. She can feed herself so that's good. Basically when she needs something I have to get it. So if I don't comment right away I haven't forgotten you I'm just in the middle of something. Have a GRATEFUL day. and smile... *
