05-31-2015 "Sunlight" As some of you know, I have a walkway that goes around my house between the deck and ponds. The other day as I was walking down the driveway toward the back of the house, I saw how the sun was hitting the dark leaves of the cannas and the banana tree. I got my camera and started taking photos. My back yard is not a manicured garden but it has a very natural feel. This comp makes it appear it is too grown up but you will soon see. During the next few weeks I will be posting various shots of my yard. Later, I will reveal the reason for sharing these photos with you. 6/2/15 - Grain Elevator somewhere in Northern New Mexico Thanks for the comments on my shot of the Thunderbirds against Pike's Peak. The image seemed to disappear from the dailies for at least some of the day. Not sure what happened. If any of you should be interested in seeing all the other Thunderbird images, they can be found here: http://fotoeffects.smugmug.com/Airplanes/USAF-F-16-Thunderbirds/8365387_BwjH3v#!i=4095522479&k=8SfRJs

Tortola Sunrise as seen from Peter Island in the south. A huge collection of towering clouds and the towering peaks of the island made a great panorama in the morning.
White Bay Sunrise Finest beach sand in the British Virgin Island is found on Jost Van Dyke. Here on a Monday morning, the hustle and bustle of work is forgotten. The beautiful, wonderful small waves tickle the toes and delight the senses.

FEED me, mom! I've been revisiting some of my shots from my trip to Tierra del Fuego, the Falklands, South Georgia and the sub-Antarctic Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula, taking advantage of new Photoshop capabilities. ZARA The ultra modern Spanish clothing store, and the beautiful architecture of Old Town Pasadena. The first time I shopped in one of their stores was in Madrid in early 2000 - then they had stores in London and in NYC. Now, as you can see, they are coast-to-coast in the US. Zara was described by Louis Vuitton as "possibly the most innovative and devastating retailer in the world" . Thank you for all the great comments on RED yesterday!
Cactus Flowers My neighbor has a new crop of beautiful cactus flowers.
11/23/10 - Tree in the Fog I have been watching and studying this tree for a couple of years now. Whenever there is fog, it seems to stand out from the backdrop...a solitary, lonely figure. I finally made up my mind yesterday to figure out where to park the car to get out to take a picture...not a small feat. I do try to stay safe, but this location is more precarious than some. Most days I am joyful as I spend time with the kids. My life is full of laughter and color; it's vibrant and full of life like many of my pictures. But some days at least deep inside it is like this too. I guess a bit of that side is slipping through today. I stopped to think about my mother for a few minutes when I took this. She was involved in a horrible traffic accident with a tractor trailer on a foggy morning in November just before Thanksgiving in 1985. For me, the fog will always be more than just the fog. Back to bright and cheery tomorrow I promise... Thanks for your comments on Johnny and the Jon boat. It was as serene out there as you thought. Little wind, warm sun on our skin, very few boats out on the lake...a calming hour without the chaos of life. HAGD, Maryann

March 30... My second Crocus picture. The ground was a mess so I isolated it

January 4. Finally a ship came through the ice and everybody are happy, and we can get our supplies again, Our small island, Fanoe, is 14 km long and 4 km wide. Almost the size of Manhattan, but with only 3200 inhabitants. Thanks for the many positive comments of yesterdays picture, the empty quay, it is warming on a cold winter day..
