Pied Avocet - a common wading bird along the shores of the brackish ponds in Burgenland, Austria. They 'scythe' their bills from side to side searching for minuscule crabs and insects.

Not as showy as Texas bluebonnets, but still beloved signposts of spring. Both of these flowers naturalize like crazy, and can be found in great drifts and patches in shady places, especially in locations that don't get mowed. DP113-2014 Posted April 23; processed April 22 There are two common six-petaled blue-violet spring bulbs that I see each year. One has curly petals, faces upward, and has a bold white center. The other is nodding - the blossoms face downward, or at best sideways. They have smooth shiny petals of a bluer shade. I'm 100% sure the latter are a member of the Scilla genus that bears the common name 'Siberian Squill'. I'm not even sure the former belong to the Scilla genus, though I tend to think so. Taken April 21 (Ann Arbor) (Title: Face Up - Face Down. Both Scillas?) Thanks to all who gave my simple daffodil shot such a warm reception yesterday.

April 23. I never imagined I would just be driving down the road to find a peacock in someone's yard, but last weekend it happened. We hit the brakes and I got out to take some pictures. It just wouldn't open it's tail feathers for me, bummer.
April 18, 2014 I can't imagine why anyone would want to shoot an elephant. But some do. This is a taxidermy display at the SCI show. The elephant was huge. It made me sad, but I thought it worthy of showing you. As I mentioned several years ago.........I don't post photos from SCI to offend you, but it's a reality for many people, so I show you the results and my experiences. Neither Bill nor I shoot animals, we only shoot clay pigeons, but this is part of his world, and you'd be amazed at the 10's of thousands of people who attend this show and pay big bucks to get admission tickets. Thank your for your comments on my "Big Cat" photo from yesterday. "Women are like elephants. I like to look at 'em, but I wouldn't want to own one." ~ W.C. Fields I hope you have a big & successful day today my friends. Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

2013-12-01. U is for Up. Up, Up, and Away. Iberostar Resort south of Cancun in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. Thanks so much for the views/comments on my leaf photo yesterday! Added Note on 12/15: This was my last post for a while in the Dailies. It was starting to get to be a struggle finding the time to comment and post every day. I miss participating but still enjoy browsing the wonderful posts every day.
2013-11-30. This is almost the last leaf standing on our Japanese Maple tree. It seemed to be protected by the brick wall of the house. Several times I went out to shoot it with no luck since we've had very little light the past couple weeks. I changed the background to a couple textures from PicMonkey since I didn't care for the brick.
Another Hutch's mural. I finally got one fixed up in Corel. Was in hospital for a test today and all is good but it wiped me out. ZZZZZZZZZ Will browse and comment tomorrow. Happy Good Friday! 18/04/2014

Some were fishing , roller blading, children playing ,long lines for fish and chips and ice cream, teens on skateboards, and there was a gaiety about the sunshine and warmth. I got lots of shots that I like so I'm going to flood SM with a few more ! YAY Summer is coming!

"SPRING FEVER"

“It's spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you've got it, you want—oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!” ~ Mark Twain

Thanks for your comments on my "Pretty, Poised, and Pink Azaleas" photo yesterday; it ranked #2 for the day.

After photographing Sassy, the duck, in her Easter garb, I decided to tour another nearby neighborhood for photo ops. I spotted this tree and the surrounding flora and loved the setting. It was such a beautiful day. I spy the letter "O." Do you?

Have a wonderful Wednesday!
