15.04.12 - Distant Impressions Every now and again people ask me why I call my photographic business "Light and Dreams Photography". It is difficult to express in a few words, but this image sums it up. For me photography is all about the light, and trying to create dreams with it, which sounds very pretentious, but it is how I feel in my heart. Most of the time this isn't possible, you can only do so much with the conditions at the time, and my skills aren't enough to make something beautiful every time I click the shutter, unlike the photographers I aspire to. But yesterday evening the light was absolutely magical, which made things a lot easier :) This is more or less the reverse shot to yesterday's Daily, but a totally different perspective of course. I actually took about 90 photos while walking the dog, but most were very similar as I tried to catch the golden glow of the low sunlight on the oilseed rape fields. I've made a small gallery from the walk here; http://www.lightanddreamsphotography.com/Landscapes/GOLDEN-FIELDS/22464665_tx7qcS#!i=1796050231&k=gBmQbsJ
Gorgeous sunrise yesterday!!! The water was so still and the sky had such unique color. I shot all around the harbor for over 2 hours! Unlike today, where I overslept and missed the whole thing! Plymouth Harbor, Ma

12/21. Big Sur Sunset and waves_DSC1781. I captured this at Sunset in the middle of the rocks and waves. The waves would come crashing in and through this little trough between the rocks. My friend I was shooting with got stuck down in the trough when the wave came in and almost lost his camera! Wow! Thanks for the awesome comments on my image! 20100224-4872 ~~Fogged and dreary rising; the weather's disagreeable too. Awake too late, eyes open, scrutinizing sleep. Fatigued, not tired. Why? I haven't a clue. Seldom works, that senseless habit, enumerating sheep. Adding insult to injury, I believe I dreamt, a ewe? What a bizarre way to begin one's day; much less, stretched across two. Weather guys preach prediction; Nay, they ALERT, ADVISE, and WARN, more wintry white stuff approaches. Alas, my view only precipitates scorn. Cold rain, go away! To you, I've no more to say. ~~ As you can see, the white stuff did make an appearance, a brief, gray, and wet one; so I added my own touch of surreality, by boosting the color to the max. Would have needed a bigger box of Crayolas to get any more out of this one, the file was just too lax. Thanks for the words on the box turtle carapace. I have another one waiting in the wings; still life insurance for a different rainy day. Donna asked, "So, just what DO turtles pine for?" I don't know, but I'm willing to wager it's not lying on their backs counting sheep, stars, or snowflakes. :D Finally, as a few have undoubtedly noticed by now, I made a commitment to myself at the beginning of the year to expand my vocabulary and advance my creative(?) writing skills. Both had taken a turn for the worse quite some time ago, along with proper punctuation, grammar and, most critical, thought. Oddly enough, this world of brevity we now live in, with Facebook, Twitter, SmugMug, and so on, is where I happen to spend most of my writing time. It sort of goes against everything these sites were designed for; so excuse the long-winded captions, comments and silly prose. It's just my way of expanding what I knows. Of course I take none of this too seriously, just like my photos, and anything I put out is open to comment, criticism, or cajolery.
28.04.10 - Kaleidoscope When I walk into town I try to plan my route around photo opportunities, indeed I do the same if I drive in too. But this afternoon I was on foot, and on the way home I took a detour through the Arboretum to see what was new. As it happened there were plenty of new flowers in bloom, which gave me the opportunity to grovel around on my stomach to see what outrageous bokeh I could manage to get! Apologies for any burned out retinas that might be caused by this riot of colour. "The River Flows" On my way home from an appt. today I stopped at one of my favorite fishing spots on the Rockaway River in my town to grab this capture. Too bad I didn't have a set of waders in my car to get the little water fall that is located just below this scene but I have to be UNDER the bridge I was on in order to get it in the frame LOL. So you'll have to settle for this one. I love the little water flow control house that is dilapidated here, it adds a nice rigid feel to the scene. I've watched the roof continue to collapse over the years and soon it will just fall in completely. This is one of the best trout spots around here and they stock the river just upstream weekly during trout season from the farm with tags on them so you know if you caught a wild or farm bread fish. The mountain you see in the background is part of the Picatinny Arsenal where they develop & test new weapons for the military. Anyway, it was an overcast day here as you can see and it really brought some nice contrast into the picture that I liked. I had to make slight levels adjustments to bring the clouds out a bit more and then some selective dodging & burning to the shadow areas but not much more to this one. Oh and a slight filter applied to bring the colors up a bit since it was so dark here. 10 min. of work and it was finished. So I hope you enjoy this next addition to my fall colors month - I hope you all have a fantastic weekend and get out there to enjoy the crisp clean fall air ;) ALTERNATE VERSION: You can see a second version in SEPIA of this image in my EXTRAS Gallery BY CLICKING HERE Best Regards, ~Bill~
1-16: Thursday morning we woke up to thick fog again. It lasted till about noon. I was able to go out on my lunch break and take some shots along the river right after the fog lifted. The fog had frozen to the tree branches and bushes. I was able to get some shots before it all melted.

2-1: Saturday evening we had quite a nice sunset, so I took a walk along the Poudre trail near Prospect street hoping to find some good views. I found this waterfall like thing.
Butterfly - Jun 3 2009 I was shooting roses today when all of a sudden 7 butterfies drew my attention. They seemed particularly fond of these tiny pinkish red flowers... and were not disturbed by my presence. I had a good 150 shots of them in less than 10 minutes. I like this shot because of the neat details on the head.
