11/05/09 - Historic Yates Mill Pond at Sunset I posted a picture of the actual water wheel in my gallery earlier this year. In this picture, you can't see the wheel, but you get this lovely reflection instead. After Joey's flu shot, I decided to make the best of a wonderful afternoon and go for a quick hike around the mill pond. Unfortunately, we were really there a good 30-60 minutes too late to be taking good pictures. I had to bump up the saturation on this one to improve the color. This is the same shot taken on 10/26 last year when the sun was better and the tree closest to the mill still had yellow leaves on it. http://fotomom.smugmug.com/Yates-Mill-Pond/Yates-Mill-Photo-Contest-2009/7088136_34LZC#454338880_TdGL2 In both cases, the sky looks better in the reflection than in the final shot. I'm not sure how to get around that...especially in last night's picture when the sky really didn't have much blue in it. We still have not had a frost or freeze at my house, but it look like it's coming Friday night into Saturday. I am storing ceramic bird baths and pots and taking in fragile plants that I can save. I sure wish today was Friday... HAGD, Maryann
February 21, 2011 - "Restoration Questionable" This vehicle is on display in front of some Key West stores. I did some research and believe that nameplate on the hood is part of the original vehicle. Your response to my Key West sunset image was greatly appreciated.
I took this picture at an exhibition of Eduard Munch's drawings. Was awarded gold medal from our national Photographic Society

Sunday, May 15, 2011 "ANTIQUE CHEVY" (pp version) "Keep calm and drive a Chevy!" ~ Unknown Author Linda (aka Lgood) is one of the absolute best at capturing automobile shots and their reflections, and I immediately thought of her when I spotted this GM classic. Unfortunately, there wasn't an information card, so I am unsure as to the year of this "oldie but goodie." My hubby's guess is it's a "1930 something Chevy." The pink sign made spectators chuckle. It warned, "UNLESS YOU ARE NUDE.....PLEASE DO NOT TOUCH MY CHEVY! BUCKLES, BELTS, AND BUTTONS SCRATCH." As you can see, I did some pp with this one, but it is uncropped. God is and has been exceptionally kind to all of us; have a blessed and safe Sunday, everyone. 12-26: Another from the golf course on Wednesday morning. There was a heavy frost on the trees which, in this shot, was helping to pick up a glow from the sun.
11-29: Friday morning we woke up to fog in Fort Collins, so I decided to go up to Horsetooth again. I took this shot of the fog spilling over the hilll towards the water. I think this picture looks better when viewed larger.
Sunday, February 20, 2011 "O is for ORNAMENT" "A true friend is someone who knows your faults and genuinely loves and accepts you anyway." ~ Unknown Author This is a beautiful, crystal Christmas tree ornament that was a gift from my best friend in 2009. I turned off the lights in the room to darken the background. Also, I intentionally did not position the camera to center the photo, because I had an "eye" for something different. Additionally, before I pushed the button to take the picture, I twisted the hanger to make the ornament spin - thus, the variations in color. Finally, as the French saying goes, "Voila!" Monday, June 24, 2013 "MONDAY BLUES" “The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you!” ~ Coco Chanel SOOC, uncropped, flash fired "I think a number of us agree that Mondays are the most difficult transition. Although it has the same number of hours as the rest of the days, our internal clocks naturally operate on a day that is longer than 24 hours. It seems that it takes ages to get Monday over. We just had two glorious days off free from stress and doing stuff we love to do. Now we are back at work facing piles of tasks that meeting deadlines, list of appointments or some difficult unsolved tasks that we don’t really feel like doing." ~ Reprinted texts from http://www.123Greetings.com "Hey, come on… No matter we like it or not, we still have to get things done and to get the day over. Let's take some of the control back and make ourselves feel good by doing small things that can redirect your focus, such as share with your colleague about the fun you have over the weekend, reading some jokes, positive quotes or watch a short fun video. Let's fill up the Monday Blues with some colours." ~ Reprinted texts from http://www.123Greetings.com Here's the final test shot of one of my favorite necklaces taken with the new 35mm lens. I placed one of my crinkled blouses underneath as a backdrop. Someone apologized for posting a comment prior to me posting my "Starter Comment." Don't get the blues and "sweat the small stuff" regarding comments being posted prior to the "Starter Comment." I don't mind at all. Have a beautiful "blue" Monday! ***#1 photo of the day and all-time*** (photo taken 6/22/2013) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
Thursday, June 7, 2012 "DELICATE BEAUTIES" “Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option.” ~ Dr. Maya Angelou This summer, I am only perusing and commenting on photos as my limited time permits. Although it is summer vacation, I am not idle. This is a very busy time for me, as I have embarked upon a new and very challenging endeavor. Don't miss a blooming thing this spring! This is one of my favorite flower captures. An abundance of colors, fragrances, and scenic views await you in these gardens. Also, I read that the meaning of hibiscus is "delicate beauty;" thus, the caption. These orange hibiscuses are amazing tropical flowers that come in many shapes, sizes and varieties. They are known for their beauty and their large, colorful blooms. You can plant hibiscus flowers indoors, outdoors, as a shrub, or as a simple flower. With all of the different options available, who would not want to plant this flower? SPEAKING OF SPORTS: In the words of Reggie Miller, we watched "greatness grow up" last night as the "young guns" of OKC defeated the San Antonio Spurs in OKC and ended the series 4 - 2. OKC has advanced to the NBA Finals........woo hoo!! Tonight, Boston Celtics will host Miami Heat in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The series is 3 - 2 with Boston leading the way. The family and I are pulling for Boston. If Boston is victorious tonight, they will go on to face OKC in the NBA Finals - date TBD. I truly appreciate your comments on yesterday's "Banana Tree" photo; it was the #2 photo of the day. Congrats to Maryann (aka "fotomom") for the #1 photo. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday.
