April 8, 2013 According to Wikipedia, the Chevrolet Corvette has been produced in six generations. The first model, a convertible, was designed by Harley Earl and introduced at the GM Motorama at a New York Auto show in 1953 as a concept show car. Myron Scott is credited for naming the car after the type of small, maneuverable warship called a corvette. This is a wonderful 1957 Corvette seen at one of the many car shows we go to, and from the Lgood Archives. "When your hobbies get in the way of your work - that's OK; but when your hobbies get in the way of themselves... well." ~ Steve Martin The problem is - my work is getting in the way of my hobbies, but at least it funds those hobbies. :-) Have a fun day friends, Linda
If it looks like winter, and it feels like winter, it IS winter. Duh! (My version of the 'Duck' test: If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck . . . You know the rest.) DP319-2014 Posted November 15; processed ditto Yesterday was cold, windy, and spitting snow. It has been cold enough for long enough that ice is now forming on ponds and along calm stretches of the river. The last leaf falls, from alders and sweet gum trees in this case, got trapped in the pebbly ice at the edge of Furstenburg Lagoon, and made a nice subject for the transition from fall into winter. Taken November 14 at Gallup Park, Ann Arbor Title: Passing the 'Duh!' Test Big thanks to all who left kind comments to my post for yesterday of the red 'planet'. They warmed my heart.

Halloween is just about my least favorite holiday, but I do enjoy the enthusiasm some show for decorating their houses and yards. This is the postage stamp sized front yard of a B&B that stands just off the central campus of the University of Michigan. The yard and balcony are nearly always crammed full of decorations in some seasonal or holiday theme. Several of these inflatables are motorized, with moving parts, including the Cheshire cat, whose head tilts from side to side. Not showing are various other critters including another motorized cat, and some creeping arthropods. Even the non-motorized figures sway in the breeze. Kind of fun to see as you walk or drive past. Happy Halloween to those who do like this holiday. Most of all, be sensible and stay safe. January 4. Finally a ship came through the ice and everybody are happy, and we can get our supplies again, Our small island, Fanoe, is 14 km long and 4 km wide. Almost the size of Manhattan, but with only 3200 inhabitants. Thanks for the many positive comments of yesterdays picture, the empty quay, it is warming on a cold winter day..

April 4, 2013 Another from the archives. This colorful display of necklaces were in a shop in the Stockyards area of Fort Worth, Texas. I couldn't resist taking a picture of it, because I am a self described "color-holic" Colorful, shiny baubles can be a girl's best friend on a dark, rainy day. Thanks for all your awesome comments on my "original" 1969 Charger shot yesterda . Indeed the "new" Chargers are great too ! Thanks for making my shot of the 1969 Charger the #5 shot of the day ( at least it was the last time I looked at Smug) Smugmuggers ROCK!!! Have a colorful day today my friends. Linda
This shot contrasts the year round soft blue greens and mauves of the slates and copper cupola on the Michigan League with the seasonal scarlet of one of the most glorious red maples around, which stands in the courtyard of the League. DP305-2014 Posted November 1; processed ditto I feel as though I'm in a race against time to capture every last bit of the glorious fall color. Yesterday was a washout, literally, in that regard. I'm hoping for dry, if not sunny weather today. Taken October 30, 2014 Title: Local Color.
