2013-05-18 My brain is dead!

Old joke in our house, my husband bought me a beautiful brain coral a few years ago for our salt water tank. It died, and this is the skeletal remains drying out in the sun. So sad!

Thank you all so very much for the comments on my water drop shot yesterday. Took a break last night, but I will be back at again.
Waterford Castle

The first structure built by the Fitzgeralds in the late 1100s was a Norman Keep; a tower like stone structure with thick walls, narrow slit windows and a lead roof. At that time the Keep would have been the core of any defence in battle and would have been virtually impregnable.By the 15th century, the ruins of the Keep were no longer habitable. A tower, the centre part of the present Castle, was then constructed on the site of the old Keep. Initially it was relatively modest in size but, over the years was enlarged. Firstly in 1849 by John Fitzgerald and subsequently in 1875 and 1895 when the East and West wings were added.

It is now a hotel http://www.waterfordcastle.com/index.html

Taken as the sun was setting behind the castle. From my archives. Processed this morning.

Phill and I are taking a break from tomorrow. Will comment today but will not be posting or commenting again until Sunday week. Thank you for all the views and comments this week.

Peony season! Hurray!

DP138-2013 Posted May 18; processed ditto

The start of the peony season is a highlight of the spring for me. It begins with the early blooming tree peonies, such as seen here.

May 18 - Reflection of a flag on the back of a boat who's engine was unfortunately leaking a small amount of gas creating the rainbow effect in the water.

Thank you for your comments on my rusty truck door image! The truck was a fun subject and I'm glad you liked it.
5/18/13 - Zion National Park, Virgin River...near the Narrows. I've been wanting to try some of the long exposure techniques that others of you have been doing. This was my first opportunity. I used a 10-stop neutral density filter and a 2.5 sec. exposure for this image. The waterfall was in very bright sun but the area of the river closer to me was shaded. We were in the Zion area for a week and I have lots of shots to upload. I was able to upload only two shots this evening.

I appreciated your support on my most recent posting of several days ago --- the image of the Pueblo dancers with the shadows. Today is the first 'Net access I've had for quite a few days. We are in Boise, ID and will be here just two nights. Hopefully, I can post and comment both nights here.
