Portrait of a Pa-O girl, Inle Lake, Myanmar This is my best shot of the pretty Pa-O girl that Harsh was taken with and asked to see another shot. The rest of the shots from the market can be seen here, including a boy walking a pair of roosters, a couple of shots of a blacksmith with an interesting hand pumped bellows, and women buying poori: http://goo.gl/UryJOI 24/04/14 www.allenfotowild.com
I left a lot of surrounding emptiness in this shot on purpose, as far as blooms are concerned. It tells a story of how things are going this spring. DP114-2014 Posted April 24; processed April 23 This lone dwarf iris was the only one blooming in the bed. A number of the typical spring bulbs have bloomed in much reduced numbers this year, after a long, hard winter. Only the daffodils and the scilla seem to be going strong. April 24, 2014 This is a Pineapple Plant….. Did you know if you cut the top off a pineapple, remove a few of the lower leaves, place it in water and in a few weeks it will grow roots then you can transplant it?? Well I didn’t, how cool is that? So cool I think I’ll give it a try.

We were very lucky to have seen this without a lot of cloud cover, it was so beautiful, I do so wish I had a longer lens, but it is what it is! From Wikipedia: Aoraki / Mount Cook is the highest mountain in New Zealand, reaching 3,724 metres (12,218 ft).[1] It lies in the Southern Alps, the mountain range which runs the length of the South Island. A popular tourist destination,[2] it is also a favourite challenge for mountain climbers. Aoraki / Mount Cook consists of three summits lying slightly south and east of the main divide, the Low Peak, Middle Peak and High Peak, with the Tasman Glacier to the east and the Hooker Glacier to the west. The glacial feed to the lakes gives them a distinctive blue colour, created by glacial floor, the extremely finely ground rock particles from the glaciers. Lake Pukaki covers an area of 178.7 km², and the surface elevation of the lake normally ranges from 518.2 to 532 metres above sea level
23.04.14 - War............ Possibly the most dramatic shot I have ever taken! When we started "Tell Them of Us" we had no intention of recreating battle scenes, they were just too complex for our budget and so we decided to concentrate on events back home, with news from France told through letters. But eventually the temptation became too much and a plan came together. Yesterday was the big day when that plan would either stand or fall, to say we were nervous was an understatement! Huge thanks to the pyrotechnics guys, and most of all to actor Reece Ackerman who through himself (literally) into the mud and water repeatedly until we nailed it.

4/24/14 - Inside a shop in Fredricksburg, TX; I wanted to get a shot of the big glass vases lit by the indirect light from the door. I have a crop of this shot that focuses just on the glass vases and I like it, but I found I really liked the light iinside the store and all the various things that are included in the shot. I did process this in both Nik's Color EFEX, as well as Topaz Adjust. Take a look in the largest size and tell me what you think. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the cactus. I was really pleased that so many of you appreciated the depth of field that I achieved that allowed me to get the centers of almost each of the cactus flowers in focus. Several of you asked if this was an especially good year for cactus flowers. I actually have no idea, but I think this is probably a pretty normal cactus flowering year. Cactus flower at different times...they don't all bloom at the same time. If you manage to get lucky and be johnny on the spot, you'll see some gorgeous cactus blooms.
The space in this rock pile was intriguing and it is a rare corel fix for me. I'm experimenting. Sunny all day but I had a long dental appointment . Tomorrow: I rest! YAY! 24/04/2014
Thursday, April 24, 2014 "BLOW THE TRUMPET" "Flowers are restful to look at. They have neither emotions nor conflicts." ~ Sigmund Freud "What's the best part about spring? Seeing all the gorgeous, colorful, sweet, and gentle blooms in your garden! Flowers always make us feel happy, relaxed, and refreshed." ~ http://www.beliefnet.com/Inspiration/2010/03/Inspirational-Flower-Quotes.aspx#VJ6FSFdkvjK1RMAZ.99 These are trumpet flowers in our back yard that reappear each year during early spring. It was a beautiful day when these were photographed. Hang in there; tomorrow is Friday! (photo taken 4/19/2014) My Homepage: http://www.Godschild.smugmug.com
5th year Pic 159 - 24-Apr-2014. Banganga - Mumbai Banganga is an ancient water tank in South Mumbai. According to local legend, it sprang forth when the Hindu god Ram, the exiled hero of the epic Ramayana, stopped at the spot five thousand years ago in search of his kidnapped wife Sita. As the legend goes, overcome with fatigue and thirst, Rama asked his brother Lakshmana to bring him some water. Laxman instantly shot an arrow into the ground, and water gushed forth from the ground, creating a tributary of the Ganges, which flows over a thousand miles away, hence its name, Banganga, the 'Ganga' created out on a 'Baan' (Arrow). The tank today is a rectangular pool structure surrounded by steps on all four sides. At the entrance are two pillars in which oil lamps called diyas were lit in ancient times. The tank is spring fed and so its water remains sweet, despite being located only a few dozen meters away from the sea. Leica X2 shot More info Critiques welcome!
