3/1/15 - For the final still life challenge; thanks to everyone who participated. You all produced some wonderful still lifes. I'm proud to be a part of such a talented group. Thanks for your comments on my shot of the great horned owl. Much appreciated.
March 1, 2015 I was desperate for a shot for the final Sunday of Judy's Still Life Challenge, and knowing that I wouldn't be able to work on staging one during the past week, last Sunday I just snapped this shot of my desk. It's a still life of sorts. Obviously you can see my computer screen with Smug Mug on, - and Judy's strawberry still life, then there's my iPad sitting on top of my photo printer - I'm a Nikon girl, but my Canon photo printer is the best. And last, but not least you can see my flatbed scanner on top of the desk. The top of the desk holds many fun things that are special to me. What's not as easy to see is the magazine "Shutterbug" that's laying in front of the printer, and then there's also a Photoshop CS5 for Dummies book on one of the shelves (I'm still a dummy) and a small portion of my collection of roosters and sunflowers. Some day I'm going to get around to reading the Photoshop for Dummies book, as I am a neophyte when it comes to Photoshop, and would like to get more knowledge. Ah, well.....it's on the list. Corny? Yep, but it's where I process photos and spend a lot of time. Sorry it's such a lame still life.. Have a fun day today my friends! Linda http://lgood.smugmug.com

Sunday, March 1, 2015 "CELTIC EMERALD PERSIAN PAIR" "I love to juxtapose the man-made and the natural to make people wonder and ask, Are they man-made or did they come from nature? That's a very important part of my work." ~ Dale Chihuly My fourth and final submission for Judy Horton's (aka fotoeffects) "Still Life" Challenge (week 4 of 4) "With their exotic, fluid shapes, Dale Chihuly's Persians swirl with kinetic energy, mimicking ancient vessels or blending into a natural landscape almost seamlessly. Celtic Emerald Persian Pair blazes with bright and vibrant color. Measuring approximately eleven inches across, the larger piece is blown through, bright green in the center to a dark, shadowy green along the edge, accented by a golden yellow lip wrap. Echoing these same colors, a smaller, coiling element rests inside looking as if it were a live garden creature reaching out to the viewer. Winding around both elements, dark and light green body wraps create a virtual glow." ~ Reprinted text from here: http://www.chihulyworkshop.com/celtic-emerald-persian-pair.html My complete gallery of "The Gallery: Featuring Dale Chihuly" 2013 is here: http://godschild.smugmug.com/ArtScape-1/Dale-Chihulys-Art-at-Gallery/i-tft5MVG Thanks for proposing this challenge, Judy; I enjoyed it. The time-frame was perfect, also (not excessively lengthy). Have a great start to a new month. I can't believe March is here already. My final still life depicting personal interests involves gear for getting out and walking the trails, enjoying nature. Naturally camera equipment would be part of my gear. That goes without saying. And a bottle of water. Which guidebooks I might have along with me, either on the trail, or back at the car, depends very much on location and time of year. In addition to, or instead of the guides for birds and wildflowers, I might have guides for trees, insects, butterflies, dragonflies, fungi, ferns, or even clouds. DP060-2015 Posted Sunday, March 1; processed Feb. 28 from photo taken ditto The bookmarks you see in the field guides are the ones that were actually in those guides when I pulled them off the shelf, plus a bunch more that I hid in the pages to keep the scene from getting too messy. Some will note that there are bookmarks from the now defunct Borders, dating from that company's early days, when it started in Ann Arbor as a single locally owned store calling itself Borders Book Shop. I don't throw bookmarks away until they are literally falling apart. Title: Trail Essentials - Still Life Challenge Week 4
28.02.15 - Another Photo Walk Collage Some more shots from Friday evening. Again there are some familiar views and some new ones. Hope I'm not boring anyone with these :)
March 1, 2015 Sunday "Still Life Challenge" Week #4 “Breakfast of Champions"
03-01-2015 "Lunch for a Still Life" I sit in the Dallas airport hoping my flight is not cancelled! I left Salt Lake City yesterday after all my flights home were cancelled and I was rebooked. I arrived in Dallas at 11:26 pm only to find out my flight home was cancelled. I'm awaiting another flight and hoping it will actually take off. All of this due to weather conditions. I looked through my iPhone photos to see if I had a still life and this is my lunch the other day in SLC. It was a delicious grilled salmon salad. Since I'm posting from my iPad, I hope it shows up in the community. Thank you so very much for taking the time to comment on my photos. Donna

October 10, 2012 "To be selected was an honor, and in respect of the family member chosen to run, families held feasts and gave away prized beaver coats, quilled tobacco bags and buffalo hides." ~ Dennis Banks We saw several fairly large buffalo herds while in Yellowstone National Park. And each time we and everyone else stopped to watch them, take photos and enjoy them. Notice the baby running across the field. Headed back home to Dallas today. Bill has rotator cuff surgery in the morning, wish him luck for a speedy recovery. Will catch up on comments (hopefully) in the next few days. Have a fantastic day today my friends! Linda
